I’m thinking this has been pushed to the side due to gov shutdowns, debt ceilings, immigration, and fisa reauthorizations.

Maybe I’ll be proven wrong.

So, does that mean it’s scheduled or just that it’s on a list somewhere and might get scheduled maybe?

Re: Hearing Protection Act of 2017

Theory --
Amend SHARE Act to include bump stock ban. Leave HPA language in place. Acceptable to anyone?

ETA: Better yet -- make bump stocks NFA items so they're at least available to those who really want them. So we remove one NFA item, and add one in its place.

Dead.

House Speaker Paul Ryan on Tuesday said Republicans have shelved a vote on NRA-backed legislation that would ease restrictions on the use of silencers in the aftermath of the massacre in Las Vegas that killed 59 people and wounded hundreds.

“That bill is not scheduled now,” the Wisconsin Republican said. “I don’t know when it’s going to be scheduled.”

The effort to deregulate of silencers has reached an important milestone: The Hearing Protection Act has made it out of committee, and been incorporated as part of another larger bill. House Resolution 3668 – the Sportsmen Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act – has been introduced to the House floor with a new subsection, Title XV, Hearing Protection. The new subsection provides for the change in classification of silencers from NFA items to standard firearms such as long guns, just like the HPA. Its text is reproduced at the bottom of this post.

Re: Hearing Protection Act of 2017

House is 148 sponsors now. Senate is at 16.
And something very exciting (hopefully not just smoke):

The House Committee on Natural Resources has scheduled a hearing for the morning of June 14, in which the Federal Lands Subcommittee will hear a discussion draft of the Sportsmen’s Heritage and Recreational Enhancement (SHARE) Act. The SHARE Act, which is being championed in a bipartisan manner by Congressional Sportsmen’s Caucus (CSC) Co-Chairs Representative Jeff Duncan (R-SC), and Representative Gene Green (D-TX), is a comprehensive package that covers a wide range of hunting, fishing, and outdoor related issues. Included in the legislation is Title XVII, a strengthened version of the Hearing Protection Act.

I wrote my reps again last night to reiterate support for this. Hopefully something happens before the end of next year with it!

Is this one going to just fizzle away or will the distinguished so called leadership actually make a move?
Expect nothing from Congress and you will not be disappointed.
