Re: State Fair carry

Went to the state fair on opening day. I knew from the website that concealed carry was allowed. When I got to the metal detectors I informed the lady checking us that I would set off the metal detector due to concealed carry. She simply told me to walk around the detector and show the nearest poli...

Re: What to get for my grandson's second birthday?

I am buying my daughter a silver eagle 1oz coin every year. One for birth year (plus a year of the rooster 1oz round I found), and one for each birthday year. So one for first birthday, two for second birthday, etc. Will be 173 troy ounces (14.3 lbs) of silver by 18. Not the end all be all of money,...

Re: New AR sight in

The vortex is a 4 MOA, which means the red dot will cover 4” of the target at 100 yards. With my ar, I use my flip up sights and get 1” or better at 50 yards, then dial in the red dot, it holds the same...so long as you have them co-witnessed. 4” at 100 yards should be easy. I sight in at 50 yards,...

It’s a big slowish .45. It shoots softer than a .40, a little harder than a 9mm, but different than both. I also think it is easier to shoot than my little snubby .38 special.
I find a .45acp is more of a shove than a snap.

Re: Glock 21 (.45 cal.) Own One?

I've got an OD green one, gen 4. It's a Glock. What more do you really need to say. Shoots well, feeds anything, reliable, and as a double stack .45acp a little bulky. I've switched to 9mm since getting married so my wife can more easily grip my pistols if she had to.

Re: Why Grandpa Carries a Gun

My stepfather was always fairly tough. Grew up cowboying and roughnecking. He'd put himself in the hospital before he'd let someone out work him. Then the old age does what it does to everyone. One day when he was probably 79-80 I told him, "I bet I could whoop you now if you didn't carry that pisto...

Re: Postal Service is a joke...

Talk about crazy stuff. I can't remember if it's UPS or Fedex. I lived in San Marcos for awhile, and Austin is the main destination for shipments in that area. So it goes to Austin first, then they drive it through San Marcos to New Braunfels, so they can put it on the delivery truck and drive it ba...

Re: Pulled over for speeding - you won't believe what happened next!

I've been pulled over three times since getting my license. One highway patrol where he looked at the chl and handed it back. One city did the same, and another asked where it was and for me to leave it there. I did get tickets all three times.

Re: EDC Gun Maintenance

Ya'll must have some sensitive guns. :biggrinjester: I've carried Glocks for many years now and shot each of them in matches without any failures due to the gun. I limp wristed one once when switching to off hand and the case didn't fully eject. Cleared easily, continued, and finished the stage. Pr...

Re: Stoeger Double Defense O/U shotgun. Any good?

Does it have to be a shotgun? You can get an AR15 for similar price range. They don't have much kick, and with 30 rounds not like she'll have to reload it.

Re: EDC Gun Maintenance

Like most of us I clean after every range trip. While those don't occur as often as I would like, it is still enough. I take out from holster and wipe down with a silicone cloth at the end of the day. I used to not do that, and ended up with a small rust spot on the slide. Nipped that in the bud, bu...

Re: TSA. & CHL

I don't understand, why the TSA will not take LTC, as a proper ID. It even has your DL# on it. It is a photo ID, and is issued by the State. A credit card, can be picked up anywhere, and has nothing besides, a name, to verify ID. :mad5 I believe they don't take LTCs as ID because they do not meet t...

Re: IL: Homeowner repels invader with a shot

http://www.pjstar.com/news/20180907/lincoln-homeowner-fires-gun-at-would-be-burglar At 4:41 a.m. Thursday, police were called to a home in 1200 block of Short 11th Street. Re: Officer Invades Apartment, Shoots Resident

They have asked the Texas Rangers go investigate. What puzzles me they have already charged the officer with manslaughter and the Rangers are just now starting that investigation. Could just be trying to get ahead of any protests by going ahead and charging. They can always drop, upgrade, or add on...

I am amused that the story points to getting off a “12” hour shift. Welcome to the world.
I've come home off 24 hour shifts, but I still knew where my apartment or house was.
