Re: Micro pistol finally wins me over

A friend of mine has the Kel-tec p-11 , I have fired it a couple of times at the range. I was thinking about getting one, its very nice and small and holds 10+1 and for 230 dollars I don't think you can beat it. I know he has fired over 3000 rounds with no issues. Nice gun for shorts. There's a 12 ...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

some radios now have the tnc built right into the radio  Do any bands allow for DX (for me, over 100 miles) regardless of the solar cycle? Well. it may be considered cheating (probably don't do it contesting), but Echolink uses VOIP voice over Internet Protocol (using a cell phone, tablet, la...

Re: concealed definition

Isn’t there a definition to be found in one of the pre-LTC CHL manuals? Well, there never was a Texas definition of "in a concealed Manner" A legal definition of “Concealed handgun” was Repealed but it used to be https://codes.findlaw.com/tx/government-code/gov-t-sect-411-171.html Texas Government ...

Re: concealed definition

By the same logic, is a handgun still a handgun if it's not being held in your hand? Or is it a handgun while I am holding it, and a non-distinct firearm while sitting in my holster, or safe, or range bag, only to magically become a handgun again as soon as I grab it with my hand? Or is it just hol...

Re: concealed definition

Well, I'm glad I stumbled across this post. It somehow escaped me that the official definition of concealed had been removed from the Penal Code. However, 30.06 applies to concealed carry. So, without an official definition of concealed, what is the criteria for arrest if one carries past the sign?...

Re: Fess Up

so much for your 1st amendment. i'd leave it up. and if they made me take it down sue the pants of someone for violating my 1st amendment rights. The company that owns the board decided it didn't want it up, this has nothing to do with the 1st amendment. Actually it does. Politically correct Nazi's...

Re: Priorities for 2019 legislative session

The bill I have written 1) creates unlicensed-carry; 2) moves all of TPC §46.035 to §46.03; and 3) exempts LTC's from §46.03. The benefit of this approach is that it creates so-called constitutional carry while preserving a big incentive to get an LTC. The Legislature does not like unlicensed-carry...

.... And ... a handgun in a belt holster in a licensee's the car in plain sight (either holster mounted somewhere. or laying in the passenger seat or floorboard) .... It was asked in my Jan 2016 LTC instructor class if this worked. The DPS answer was no. What I believe is the basis? If the holster ...

Re: concealed definition

If you attach it to the shoulder belt, is it a belt holster or a shoulder holster? :banghead: Still a great question According to the quoted DPS guy who was teaching Instructors, this is a belt holster? But a real belt holster isn't a belt holster unless it's "on" a belt? (Yet the belt doesn't have...

When bad weather does hit, I get more information from my ham radios than from TV or radio weather forecasts or reports. Chas, do HAMs pick up NOAA frequencies or would I have to purchase a "police scanner" like this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00V91IN62/?coliid=I2PH2HKCICVXNQ&colid=1SMRNUOMPAMC3&ps...

Re: concealed definition

What I'm posting here is related but sort of off topic, except it occured at the same breakfast table. One of the Hams with a local VFD is writing Volunteer Fire Dept Policy manual ( I think he recently became a LTC instructor too) concerning the Volunteer Emergency Services Personnel and he's asked...

Re: concealed definition

If you attach it to the shoulder belt, is it a belt holster or a shoulder holster? :banghead: :smilelol5: "rlol" Thinking of that DPS officer's analysis which "he says" came from the AG ? CONCEALED carry doesn't have to be ON BODY carry, can be OFF BODY carry, not worn ... Examples: inside a briefc...

Re: concealed definition

But seriously (does a Texas definition of "concealed" exist elsewhere any more? Because the term is still used... so what does "in a concealed manner" mean ? I had breakfast with the HAM club this morning, which includes Volunteer Firemen, retired Police, current Peace officers and a LTC instructor ...
