Re: FL:Stand your ground law under fire for parking space dispute murder

Not familiar with Florida law. Isn't there a grand jury in any of this? And, of course, I understand a prosecutor can "indict a ham sandwich."

Re: TX: good Samaritan was killed by car theft suspect

I cannot understand why someone, unarmed, would try to close on a thug armed with a handgun. Of course I was not there and do not know the totality of the circumstances, but...still....Feel bad for the man who lost his life.

Re: The NRA Says It’s in Deep Financial Trouble, May Be ‘Unable to Exist’

You beat me to it. Given that it is Rollingstone doing the reportage, I speculate that they stretched some “facts” with an unprofessional amount of glee. Hopefully, Charles will be able to set us straight. I bet he will be unable to comment about this in a public forum until it is over. Agreed. Bes...

Would like to watch any body-cam video of this one and the "dashboard audio" if such exists.

Re: 3 D Printed guns in the news

Lots of folks will get confused and believe it is now okay to manufacture one of these guns which to my understanding would be illegal unless you go through proper federal paperwork channels and include a serial number on the newly manufactured gun. I can 3D print a gun. I can machine/complete an 8...

Re: Active shooter has been reported at the La Plaza Mall in McAllen

Hard to believe how brazen and stupid this crime was. Glad they were quickly arrested. Could have ended very badly for customers and the first arriving police.

Who are these thugs? Any information released? Part of a known local or across-the-border gang? Incredible.

Re: FL:Stand your ground law under fire for parking space dispute murder

The video makes it pretty obvious what happened. The video is certainly helpful but there is quite a bit we as "arm-chair jurors" do not know. 1) What was said between the shooter and the girlfriend? 2) What was said between the shooter and the boyfriend? 3) How did it feel to get thrown to the hot...

Re: FL:Stand your ground law under fire for parking space dispute murder

All of this stand your ground discussion reminded me of another case I had not heard about in awhile---I call it the "popcorn shooter case." That case is also a big mess: http://www.tampabay.com/news/courts/criminal/February-trial-date-set-in-Curtis-Reeves-theater-shooting-case_168666185 Getting bac...

My gut tells me a targeted hit too. Hard to believe some random meth-head or homeless person riding a bicycle would have those kinds of marksmanship skills with a handgun at that distance.

Re: FL:Stand your ground law under fire for parking space dispute murder

Differences in the responses on different forums are interesting. On one national forum (full of great people IMO) the opinion is heavily weighted towards the stand-your-ground laws and this being a good shoot. On this forum it is weighted much more towards the opinion that the shooter provoked the...

Re: Female Body found at GunFree University of Texas, Homicide Investigation ongoing

Is this the case that had a problem with the DNA evidence? Chas. I think so. The judge threw out the DNA evidence. From what I read in the paper the lab technician ran the DNA through "old software" and did not get a match. They ran it a second time through "new software" and got a match. The lab t...
