See the first post of the thread. I believe that an employee did tell him about the policy and asked him to leave. Apparently they didn't give him much time to leave before calling 911.

Maybe that was one of the initiatives that Bill Scott was referring to in his email. Since the "public administator" was not a peace officer, maybe "qualified immunity" doesn't apply.

I got this email from William B. Scott, Erik's father:

Very disappointing, but we had to drop the lawsuit against Las Vegas Metro. The attached news release has the basic details. In short, it looked like we'd never win on appeal, because the Ninth Circuit Court almost always finds in favor of cops -- even when excessive-use-of-force HAS been established.

However, in some ways, this is liberating. We're now free to launch several initiatives that, in the long run, will have more impact.

I disagree. I think the Scott family has no intentions of settling for any amount of money. In fact, if you read the story, Bill Scott is quoted saying that it isn't about the money, it's about holding LVMPD and Costco responsible for what they've done.

I doubt there is enough money in Vegas to make Bill Scott go away. Money works on most people but fails utterly with men of integrity.

I agree that Bill Scott will not settle for mere money, but that is probably all he will get. Arrogant men who hold powerful positions can hide behind the powerful shield of the government. The various government agencies and Costco may eventually lose the civil case, but the people in charge will probably will never be held accountable or admit to any culpability or wrongdoing.

If you read his biography, he is an electrical engineer, a prolific published author, public speaker and ex-USAF test pilot. If I were in a battle, I would want him on my side.

It's already getting very ugly. There are reports Erik Scott's history of alledged domestic violence and prescription drug use surfacing. There is also a report about Erik Scott where he alledgedly points a gun at a neighbor and his dog after being bitten by the dog.

I don't know much about the coroner's inquest process, but it seems that this information is not relevant to the shooting. I don't know if any of these things can be introduced into evidence at the inquest or whether it's just a smear campaign designed to placate the public should the shooting be ruled "justifed".
