Re: What were your political leanings at 18 years old?

I would've voted for Kennedy in 1960 but I wasn't old enough; however, when I was old enough, I voted for Barry Goldwater and have voted for every Republican since then. My parents, bless their hearts, were both children of 'The Great Depression'. They always voted for Roosevelt and his party. The ...

Re: What were your political leanings at 18 years old?

I was anti-establishment, and anti-authority, at 18 years old. I chose Libertarian as that is closest to my views then. I've since morphed into an ideology that can best be described as Libertarian / Conservative. Where I break from the Libertarians, I side with Conservatives.

Re: Killeen Newspaper Poll

Many more people are killed by drunk drivers than by criminals using guns. Unlike guns, vehicles cannot be used to defend yourself from a drunk driver (the fact that you are in a vehicle actually makes it MORE likely that you will be killed by such a criminal). So lets drop the bull about gun backgr...

Re: Shooting at pee wee football

Passions can definitely run high with youth sports. They always have. I know that the only time I have been challenged to a physical fight in the last 25 years was at my daughters soccer game. She was 12 at the time. Let's just say that another parent and I had a disagreement over whether a foul sh...

Re: 1911 with a 10 rd magazine?

Another way to look at it is that if they don't allow stock tools for competition, you might want to find different matches with less restrictive rules. But if your heart is set on this one, I agree that a 10-rd magazine is not a problem to buy. (if you are willing to spend the money to support tha...

Re: Gun Registration is Gun Confiscation: 2019

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State , the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. The founders were not speaking of securing a free state of oppression from other countries. They were putting in place a safe guard to keep the citizens...

Re: 1911 with a 10 rd magazine?

You didn't say exactly what kind of a pistol match this is, but if it is IDPA, then a 10 round magazine in a 1911 would not be allowed because the gun would exceed the maximum dimensions. But then again, if it is IDPA, you can use an 8 round mag in a 1911, just in a different division. At any rate, ...

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks

I saw a recent survey where 38% of voters (across all parties) said they would not believe that the next election was conducted fairly if their preferred candidate lost. So assuming they are evenly split, roughly 1/5th of the U.S. population will believe that the next President is illegitimate. Thes...

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks

Obvious there are more people killed my drunk drivers. So the analogy would be then that every car sold should have an ignition interlock device (IID) installed even thou there are people like me that do not even drink. More intrusion from the government on law abiding citizens. Or to make it a bit...

Re: Walmart has fallen!

:iagree: I think retail in general is a dying business. As people get more and more comfortable with online purchases, the main thing that retailers have going for them is timing of purchases. And with overnight shipping that means something you can't wait at least 24 hours to get. The other advant...

Re: TX: Seguin man holsters gun discharging into his testicle

From the article “He was trying to place it back in the holster and somehow hit the slide release or the safety and it actually went off,” Guadalupe County Sgt. Donny White said. The gun was a 9 mm Smith & Wesson, White said. Unless this was an EXTREMELY defective S&W, then it didn't "go off" becaus...

Re: Albertsons goes the way of Walmart

Personally, I think the laws are backwards when it comes to OC and CC in general (not specific to Texas at the moment). Logically, we should be more comfortable with folks carrying openly, since they are willing to openly display the fact that they are armed. If we are going to restrict one or the o...

Re: Albertsons goes the way of Walmart

OC serves what purpose? It's a deterrent, plus it gives me the ability to carry a larger weapon when my clothing choices are limited. The last one is a big one for me since I need to wear a button down shirt to work most days and IWB carry with anything bigger than my P938 is not feasible given med...
