There will be challenging times for those with few skills. That's always the case when there is a business transformation. But eventually, we will find a need for these folks somewhere. They will need to compete with the taxi and truck drivers who are out of work after self driving vehicles become mainstream. And they will be competing for new jobs that may not even exist right now. Automation ultimately increases the productivity per worker, which benefits us all. By artificially increasing the cost of unskilled labor, the government is just accelerating this trend and is also maximizing the disruption that will impact lower skilled folks.

The good news for Pelosi and her ilk is that they can convince these folks that all their problems are the fault of rich people. It will keep them in office for a while longer. A few starving families is a small price for the Dems to pay in exchange for more power.

I've run into a couple of places with the Kiosks, last one was in Fort Stockton. Some places just can't find enough people. I did notice that they were hiring also at considerably more than minimum wage. Minimum wage is rarely paid at many places in Texas because of the very real laws of supply and demand.

On a complete and total tangent, increasingly low unemployment rates, and resulting labor shortages, will also help to solve our immigration issues, as employers clamor for more and more workers, IMHO.

It's very telling, that Trump's policies will actually meaningfully help to solve the Democrats pet issue that they have not been able to solve for the last 50 years or so. Then again, it's hard to solve something if you don't really want it solved.

I've been to about 30 different Whataburgers and never seen a 30.07. If you are going to make accusations about management / leadership positions, please post an article instead of just 'they said ___'...

They made the announcement they would notify people individually and would not post 30.07 signs. This issue has been discussed on here extensively and so has the best burger debate.

Notice the date on that story. Almost 6 months BEFORE open carry went into effect in Texas. I especially love the dubious line from Whataburger's CEO, Preston Atkinson, "We've had many customers and employees tell us they're uncomfortable being around someone with a visible firearm who is not a member of law enforcement." Really Preston, many employees and customers told you about their discomfort at seeing this BEFORE open carry was legal in Texas? Assuming that they aren't getting a ton of outspoken customers and employees from out of state, Mr Atkinson should have applied a bit more skepticism to the objections of these anti-OC plants. Heck, even now that OC is legal, I doubt most of his customers and employees have seen any non-LEO OC more than once, if at all.

My biggest problem was with the timing of their decision and their refusal to actually wait and see if OC caused any issues before they jumped to making a liberal knee jerk reaction.

I have a team in San Jose, CA and I do the same thing when I visit there, only with In-N-Out. I only visit there when I have to, being that it is across the border, and in a dangerous land with no respect for the civil rights that we enjoy in Texas. I think the rarity also plays a part in the appeal, at least for me. If I have any burger all the time, it starts to get less appetizing. Now y'all got me craving a burger for lunch, dang it.

As an aside, it's so dangerous in California that Texas doesn't even have an embassy there. Apparently we had to pull all of our Texans out.

I have never understood the appeal of Whataburger. I put it below Burger KIng, and above Mc Donalds. But all 3 of those are far behind In-N-Out, IMHO. You gotta get the animal style, though.

My favorite burger is 5 Guys. Just don't load up on the toppings, even though they are free. It's easy to overdo it and end up only tasting the toppings, like having a big salad with some beef thrown in. Pappas is number 2 on my ranking.
