This is the part I don't understand. Why was this information, kept secret from the jury?

I don't know if I agree or disagree, with the verdict, or the homeowner's actions, but, I do feel all information, should be provided. Too many times, the person(s) who are on the receiving end, of gunshots, are portrayed as choirboys. I don't know whether or not, the information, that they were on a crime spree, would have swayed the jury either way. At least let them hear it and decide for themselves. JMHO


Edit to add: I misread the story, I thought a verdict had been returned. The trial is still ongoing.
