I assure you, no sane property owner is paying the property taxes for the renters without factoring that into the cost of rent.

I believe there is a republican caucus meeting this morning to discuss that. Unfortunately, I believe Straus has JUST enough republicans in his pocket to side with the democrats and retain his position. I hope I am wrong.

I doubt this is more than some enemy spreading rumors. Abbott already announced that this would be the only special session when he called it. He said if they could not get his agenda done during that time, they weren't "trying" (I read that as they would not ever agree).
One of the items on his agenda was the sunset legislation reauthorizing the Texas Medical Board. This is a MUST pass item, and will result in another session if it does not pass.

Re: 2017 Special Session called

My understanding is also that neither chamber has passed any legislation submitted by the other. Patrick and Straus are NOT getting along.

I'd say Straus is not happy about being called back and has been dragging his feet. Meanwhile, Patrick and the Senate seem to be firing on all cylinders.

I know several that would prefer to be home with families and spending time with kids and grandkids.

In addition to the bathroom and tax measures, the nearly 60 GOP authors said they want lawmakers to vote on bills that would allow Texans to carry guns without licenses; abolish abortion and refuse to follow federal rules and court orders that allow the procedure; and allow parents to use taxpayer money to send their children to private schools."

I am actually surprised to see this on here. I didn't think think this would get any attention if there was a special session.
I didn't hear anything related to the 2nd amendment mentioned in his online address
