Re: CA: No place but California

The zero-cash bail emergency mandate in California, which has led to reduced prison populations to reduce the spread of COVID-19, ignores victims and favors criminals, Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims asserted Friday night
It's an oversight Mims believes "flies in the face of anything in [her] 41 years of law enforcement."

"It has nothing to do with public safety," she concluded. "It has everything to do with ignoring victims and giving inmates and people [who] commit [a] crime a free pass."

17 year old girl steals a 2 million dollar airplane and crashes it. Arrested after finding out she wasn't from a protected group or didn't do it to as a protest for climate change.
Airport officials are none the wiser as to how the teen managed to get into the plane and start the engines.
1) didn't lock the cabin door?, and 2) Microsoft Flight Simulator?
wonder if she pulled the wheel chocks, or just ran over them.....
This was a discussion at a ham radio exam session I attended the other night. One of the VEs is a pilot and is curious himself how she was able to start this plane. Apparently it's not as simple as other aircraft and you need to know what you're doing in order to start it up.

I agree about keeping out snowflakes. However we have acquired a few patriots from California. I know TAM and strogg were good imports, and that's just off the top of my head.

A charity flag football event in honor of fallen Ventura County Sgt. Ron Helus, the deputy killed in the Borderline mass shooting in 2018, has been put on hold after organizers say a local police chief and a Democratic politician derailed it because they didn't want Republicans at the event.

More reason not to go to California. Look at the games they teach kids.

Re: CA: No place but California

The California Legislature on Wednesday sent Gov. Jerry Brown a bill that would raise the age limit to purchase all guns from 18 to 21.

If signed, Senate Bill 1100 would tighten gun control in a state with some of the strictest laws in the country. The law specifically bans anyone under age 21 from buying a long gun, or rifle. State law already limits hand guns sales to those 21 and over.

It would have been more, but they had to set aside the rest of the money to ban sippy straws. Apparently, Californians don't know how to properly bundle their own trash for disposal.

Thanks. You made my morning so much better. I needed that.

On a very much related note: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/07 ... w-ban.html. I guess the punishment is higher for those with large caliber straws and high capacity clips that can dispense 30 straws in half a second?

So if I went to him to buy some of what he printed, would that be a "straw purchase"? :biggrinjester:

Re: CA: No place but California

https://www.foxbusiness.com/technology/ ... es-workers
San Francisco employees who work at notable tech companies, including Facebook, Google, Twitter, Uber and Square, enjoy an exciting perk: free lunches.

The city currently has 51 tech companies that offer free lunch to their employees every day, but new companies shouldn't be expecting the same perk.

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is looking to ban tech companies from building new cafeterias that will offer their workers free food.
