Re: New online CHL application & procedures

The short amount of time it took my wife to receive her LTC (classroom to card in hand) is amazing. Less than 3 weeks. I think my original CHL took nearly 6 months. The great state of Texas has got this nailed down now. Someone deserves a pat on the back.

Re: SB 16 - priority bill, reduction of LTC fees

What would be the expected date of implementation when/if SB 16 is passed? Sorry I'm not familiar with the process. I remember that when open carry passed it had a delayed effective date. Thanks for any info.

Re: LTC Class-High Pressure Sales Tactics for Legal Defense programs

I experienced the same sales pitch at the CHL class I attend in Cypress Texas. It was over the top and dominated the instructors time to the point of irritation . This needs to be stopped.

Re: Range Report - Kimber Micro 9 CSE

I followed the break in period (500 rounds) suggested by Kimber for my Ultra Covert plus upgraded my magazines and it has run perfectly since. I also do not use cheap ammo. I think the tolerances on some of the quality 1911's dictate the 500 round break in period. I chalk it up to the simple nature ...

Re: Another example of what we are up against

That is all interesting for sure. Like the saying goes, we are never too old to learn. I will state for the record that if the description for a bad guy to look out for was 5'4" white guy... I would not think to look at a Hispanic Asa possible suspect. No need to apologize. I am glad you learn...

Re: CHL proficiency test

The instructor sent in the paperwork I assume. The instructor/company that I used to take my renewal was a joke. I received no instructions on mailing anything.

CHL proficiency test

When I completed my CHL renewal class the instructor gave me a form indicating that I had taken the proficiency test. What do I do with it?

Re: Another example of what we are up against

What gets me is the attention this incident has raised. I would like to know how many black children (under the age of 18) have been murdered by other blacks in the US. What makes this special? Has every black murder suspect that has shot or killed other black children been arrested? I'm sure all th...

Re: Vehicle concealed definition

I wonder if a pistol is considered concealed if it's inside one of those standard triangular hard-sided carrying cases, but the case itself is in plain view on the passenger's seat? Granted, neither the gun itself nor its outline is visible. But its presence might reasonably be suspected by ordinar...

Re: Vehicle concealed definition

OK, OK, I got the part about not leaving the gun in the seat. Seriously, thanks to all the input. Great info. Thanks much.

Re: Vehicle concealed definition

I have a couple situations. If I take my weapon off my person while driving and place it in the seat next to me under a towel, paper or whatever as long as it is not seen (unless you go looking under the towel) and are pulled over by a LEO, am I legal? It's not printed, just on the seat under some o...

Vehicle concealed definition

Exactly what is the definition of concealed when it comes to a handgun in your vehicle? If I have a towel over my handgun in the seat is that concealed? If it's tucked under the dash in a special holster (can be seen if you look for it)? If it's not quickly accessible it sort of defeats the purpose.

Accidental view of weapon

I'm confused about this subject. I was told in my original CHL class that if you accidentally exposed your weapon (shirt lifted, caught on a chair, etc) that although it was accidental you could be arrested or have your gun taken and have your CHL revoked. In my renewal class the instructor informed...

Re: Spitting Kimber

Found this thread, so now I know ... send it back to Kimber. I told her not to buy that thing, but she wouldn't listen. She wanted more of a "Girlie gun" as opposed to my Glock or my wife's XD. Not sure I would categorise the Kimber Ultra a "girlie gun". The fact is that with an...
