Re: Thailand mass shooting 35 dead including 24 children

That article was really hard to read. Just horrific. The gun laws worked by reducing the number of people shot. From the article: The shooter came in around lunchtime and shot four or five officials at the childcare center ... then forced his way into a locked room where children were sleeping and h...

Re: Compiling Cases where concealed handgun permit holders have stopped likely mass public shootings

Local news says it’s rare for a mass shooting to be stopped by a good guy with a gun. I think there are two parts to that: 1) Is the good guy there? 2) Did he do anything? Here's an analysis of FBI data (2000-2017) saying that armed citizens are present at active shooter events around 11% of the ti...

Re: Compiling Cases where concealed handgun permit holders have stopped likely mass public shootings

Concealed Carry .com writes and talks (on podcast) about defensive gun use a lot. Unfortunately, their website does not tag stories consistently. My suggestion is to start with a little google-fu using dgu and justified shooter as a starting point. Crime Prevention Research Center defensive gun use...

Re: Red Flag laws vs report dangerous people

This is how we do it in Texas. https://www.ammoland.com/2019/01/texas-already-has-extreme-risk-protection-order-laws/ Excellent article, oljames! Under current Texas law, a person who is determined to be a risk to themself or others is not only removed from where they may access their firearms, but...

Re: KYLE'S LAW

Perhaps I'm the odd man out on this but I never saw Kyle's situation as much from a self-defense perspective as from a political one. The DA was less concerned about whether or not Kyle was being attacked than he was about Kyle showing up to be resistance to the BLM riot... Pass all the laws that y...

Re: Signage dilemma

I know that its usually best to just keep my mouth shut when I see a non-compliant gun sign since the owner / manager is likely under the misconception that the sign is enforceable and if told otherwise, they may put up actual compliant signs (in this case a total of 6 signs covering 30.05, 30.06, ...

Texas Gun Safes are Tax Free as of 9/2021

As of September 2021, lock boxes, safes, and trigger locks are tax free (Tax Code sec. 151.3131). Doesn't look like there is a price cap.

I feel a new incentive to do the right thing. Thanks, Mr. Tax Man!

Re: District Attorney Shakes The Hornet's Nest

Garrett Foster was a Communist Terrorist. Plain and simple. He lived by terror and died in the act of terrorism. District Attorney José Garza should be fired and brought up on charges of Providing material support to terrorists . I think that's a little extreme, but I understand your argument a lit...

Re: Biden to Nominate Gun Control Activist as ATF Director

David Chipman of Giffords about "the danger of high-capacity magazines" I enjoyed his interview. He sounded experienced, reasonable, and relatable. Much better speaker than many of the willful/accidental idiots I usually hear arguing for gun control. I strongly disagree with him, but I ca...

Re: And again car comparison oh so wrong

Just speaking from the perspective of a racecar driver/owner here (and I totally get your comparison, please don't think I'm knocking you, because I most certainly am not!)...most race tracks (of any decent reputation) will not let you on track without a car inspection. Race sanctioning bodies (SCC...

The Black Arch Dual Clip IWB Protos-M is OK

IWB hybrid holsters at 3:30 are most comfortable for me. I really like the Comp-Tac MTAC , but I wish it had complete, rigid trigger coverage. The Black Arch Dual Clip IWB Protos-M is an IWB hybrid holster with complete kydex trigger coverage. Since it's more expensive than the MTAC, I emailed them ...

Re: CYA IWB holster

I thought I would give a brief review on a new holster that I am fairly satisfied with. Upon the recommendation of TAM, I purchased a CYA Supply Co IWB holster for my P365 XL . I paid $35 for black during their Veterans Day sale on 11/11/20. It shipped from San Antonio on 11/12/20 and was delivered...

My Instruction was Defeated by Sight Picture

On my way out of the range yesterday, I took 10 minutes to help a girl in her early 20's with her rented VP9. Her target was evenly covered with holes all over it. She was new, trying, and struggling. I helped her build a firing grip and instructed her on sight picture, sight alignment, trigger pull...

Agreed. Firefox has been my favorite since it was called Netscape. Recommended extensions:
  • Addblock Plus - blocks adds and pop-ups
  • NoScript - blocks scripts unless you enable them

Thanks for the heads up. I ordered one today.

CYA and Dara holsters are having sales for veteran's day today.
