Re: Houston Chronicle - Packing a gun at your business sends the wrong message

The author's ignorance of existing law is on display in the article: Texas lawmakers have steadily expanded the right to carry weapons in public places, and a law effective Sept. 1 will allow adults to openly carry large knives and swords. Soon, Texans will be sporting 12-inch Bowie knives strapped ...

Re: TX: Fed Judge Dismisses UT Profs Campus Carry Lawsuito

No award of attorney's fees against the plaintiffs?... No attorney's fees, just other costs. From the final judgement: IT IS ORDERED that Defendants, the prevailing parties in this action, shall recover their allowable costs incurred in this action. See Fed. R. Civ. P. 54(d)(1). Here's what Fed. R....

Re: TX: Fed Judge Dismisses UT Profs Campus Carry Lawsuito

Let me get this straight..... They were suing the university president ? What the heck did he have to do with passing the law? He was probably against it! The UT President was sued (in addition to the State/AG and UT Board of Regents) because they were claiming that he had authority under the law t...

Re: Dangerous Traffic Stop - Minnesota Police Officer

Leftist journalists are falling over themselves to claim that the NRA is declining to comment on the Castile verdict because of his race. This dishonest narrative is easily disproven: the NRA never commented on the police killing of concealed carrier Erik B. Scott (Costco Las Vegas incident). Co-inc...

Re: Dangerous Traffic Stop - Minnesota Police Officer

If Castile had been cited three times for having MJ in his car, why hadn't the State revoked his license if the State felt it was so illegal? Revoked isn't applicable because his permit was granted in 2015, which was after the citations. Presumably they didn't know at the time that he was lying on ...

Re: Dangerous Traffic Stop - Minnesota Police Officer

he then mentioned the firearm calmly while keep in mind a woman and child were in the vehicle. To a rational person, the notion that someone would attack a police officer with a child present seems ludicrous. However, most criminals are not rational people. Here's a traffic stop in which the crimin...

Re: Dangerous Traffic Stop - Minnesota Police Officer

The jury heard the evidence, we didn't. Most media outlets have actively been covering up two facts that the jury learned: 1. Castile was prohibited by federal law -- 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3) -- from possessing guns. Earl Gray, a lawyer for Officer Yanez, questioned Ms. Reynolds at length about her ma...

Re: House Bill Would Disband Scandal-Plagued ATF

According to NSSF's latest newsletter, the Trump admin has decided to keep on Obama's acting ATF director for the foreseeable future. I'm not very familiar with his record, but it goes without saying that anyone appointed by Obama is unlikely to be a friend to law-abiding gun owners. It's unfortunat...

Re: MN: Police officer shoots kills CHL in traffic stop streamed live on Facebook as he dies

I decided not to continue on half-cocked and do some reading, and I found this, which appears to support my point (That USC 18 922 doesn't apply to Mr.Castille). ...The burden on Wilson’s core Second Amendment right is not severe. Title 18 U.S.C. § 922(d)(3), 27 C.F.R. § 478.11, and the Open Letter...

Re: MN: Police officer shoots kills CHL in traffic stop streamed live on Facebook as he dies

From the ATF website : The Gun Control Act (GCA), codified at 18 U.S.C. § 922(g), makes it unlawful for certain categories of persons to ship, transport, receive, or possess firearms or ammunition, to include any person: * convicted in any court of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term excee...

Re: MN: Police officer shoots kills CHL in traffic stop streamed live on Facebook as he dies

Not that this justifies the cop's actions, but Mr. Castile wasn't actually a legal gun owner as media outlets continue to claim even today. His state permit to carry is irrelevant because he was prohibited by federal law (18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(3)) from possessing guns. Earl Gray, a lawyer for Officer Y...

That's not what HB913 does. The latest version (passed out of Senate committee) bans "improvised explosive devices".
