Re: BANK CHL declined
Well, there is one relevant question that has not been asked yet... was the bank open when you entered? That could be relevant to not being permitted to have a weapon at that time... just a thought...

Re: Hotel question
Well here is my two cents. A notice on the website could NOT serve as effective notice. Here is why.
The hotel would have to be able to prove that you, the LTC holder, were in fact the person that made the reservation and read the notice, they cannot do that.
Example: When I was with a previous ...

Re: Court can't provide copy of disposition
The other issue is perhaps you are going to the wrong jurisdiction. If it was a misdemeanor the County Clerk should have the records, if it is a Felony then go to the District Clerk.
In some counties the District Clerk handles both.

Re: Police Dept Signage
Without getting into the technicalities of the law on City/County property. I go down to HPD sometimes to get stuff that I have requested under the FOIA, or reports on investigations I am doing.

30.06 and 30.07 Signs at Stores
I stopped at a store in Highway 90 and 321 between Houston and Beaumont. The store had the unlicensed carry sign, then had both the 30.06 and 30.07 signs posted as well.

Jury Duty= Harris County
On Friday 1/22 I was summoned downtown for the privilege of jury duty. Now, being a former LEO I know my odds of being picked on a criminal jury are slim to none, and view this process as a major waste of my time. However, this time it was at least entertaining.

I know many will not agree with my views, but that is what is beautiful about America.

Open Carry and the Police
I read these posts where folks are stressing about how the police will handle open carry.
Every police officer in the state knows about open carry. Most of them will assume that if someone is open carrying they are licensed.
Your bigger problem will be the uninformed public. They will call the ...

Re: Reaching for your ... wallet.
I read these posts and see over and over again that folks are making simple things difficult.
Simply state to the officer that your are a CHL holder and your wallet is in your right hip pocket and your weapon is on your right side. 9 times out of 10 he will ask you to reach for your wallet, don't ...

Re: CHL and Open Carry Question
Keep it simple. If a police officer asks for your ID, just show it to him/her.
The inquiry if it happens at all will take a minute or two and be over.
If you start trying to challenge the reason for the stop it will just take longer and not accomplish anything.

Instead of getting all stressed out about what the LEO's might do if you are observed open carrying, why not wait until you experience something then base your fears on fact, a novel approach to things I know, but let's try it.

Re: HB 910 Conference Committee
I did not agree with the amendment. But as a former LEO, it had a loop hole that even a Rookie would have recognized and been able to work around.
