Re: On line classes have started

Below is how I recently modified the LTC page on our web site: Private (minimum 5 hour) LTC classes are available for 1 - 4 people at $60 per hour on weekdays or $80 per hour on weekends (if available). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------...

Re: On line classes have started

Just got an email from someone who is charging $229.00 for the online LTC course. Really? Who in the world would pay that much for a class that can't possibly be worth over $100.00? I better raise my rates. :biggrinjester: I called that guy out. He is not charging that anymore. That $229 included a...

Re: On line classes have started

"It's likely that some of the actual instructors are not actually gun guys at all, but work for a company whose owner took the necessary courses to be authorized to sign off on the forms. I would bet that the online process was started by a member of the legislature who was taken to an expensi...

Re: On line classes have started

I saw a Facebook ad for one of these online providers. They claim that, after taking their $49 course, you just have to go to a local range for the Proficiency, and you will end up paying about the same as for a live course. I think that is a lie. The average cost of a class seems to be about $80. ...

Re: On line classes have started

... One instructor in Houston is sending all his students to take my online class for $25 and he only holds the one hour instruction and range qualification. He is actually making more this way and only spending a hour and 10 min handling the "shooting/instruction" portion and not having ...

Re: On line classes have started

I'm a online course provider and I have also been teaching LTC classes in person for 9 years now. I own a range and training center here in Wichita Falls, TX. We still teach in person LTC classes along with instructor classes and all the others. We have a State prison here so I have been having all ...

Re: On-line Student Proficiency

As the DPS lady said during our recertification course, " about the only people who will benefit from the online courses are people who are 1) out of state; and 2) exempt from the range qualification. " I agree, primarily because of the overall cost to the student and because I don't see ...

Re: RSD lost my LTC-8

Not sure if there is anything to do about this, but I wanted to pass it along. I was following up with RSD about my School Safety Instructor application, which requires you to have taught at least four LTC classes within the past year. They responded that they didn't have any record of two of my cl...

Re: On-line Student Proficiency

So, if we now have approved "On-line Instructors", doesn't it naturally follow that some of us may start getting proficiency testing request from these folks that did the class on-line? Anyone have any idea what that "not less than one hour, not more than two" is supposed to con...

Re: New Online teaching.

Ok. DPS says the 3 years experience of offering online training has to be where a student takes a online course AND takes a online test afterwords. They say that uploading "instructional videos" DOES NOT count. You must show verifiable proof of the 3 years experience. You will see this inf...

Re: New Online teaching.

...... I didn't have to take a "course". I applied months ago and submitted my qualifications. I received a phone call saying I was now a approved online course provider and my certificate should be in the mail today. I don't know what all is accepted as "3 years experience in online...

Re: New Online teaching.

DPS won’t know any details till well into 2018. It won't be "well into 2018". DPS has already approved several instructors to offer the course online. I just got approved today and I can start offering the course online now, of course my website for the online course is not complete yet. ...

Re: New Online teaching.

Are any of y'all going to try to do the online teaching? I would like too but don't know how or what qualifies as online teaching? A Youtube video from 3 yrs ago? It is hard since we have never been able to teach online LTC/CHL before. I don't think a youtube video will work. lol.. You have to have...
