LEOSA was expanded to include some retired military personnel. Much of that is a very gray area and does not answer a lot of questions. For example qualifying is based on the agency we worked for. AKA DOD then the Branch of Service. Each Service has a different quualification for hand guns and for rifles. But requaling also has different rules as well. And once you retire, how in the world do we we requal with our service when they won't do a requal. Do we ask the NG to do it? Too many ambiguous areas for LEOSA in the first place and even more for retired military. I live in TX and I would like to know, based on what TX laws are, what DO I need to do to apply and get my LEOSA license. I would like to see this promoted for a couple of reasons. One of those are the school shootings and I think the best way to protect our kids in schools would be to hire retired military and LEOs for that job. We've got the training and the capacity as well as the experience. None of us want to see what has happened in so many schools to happen again. Texas is a very pro-gun, pro-law and pro-military state and I can think of no better place to be at but TX (at least for me). It would be even better to have us do that job and let you younger cops take care of the streets. We know you have our backs and the backs of those kids even more. Same goes for us. You know we would do everything to protect those kids too. Our kids. Through a LEOSA program we can increase the number of qualified personnel that can not only protect the schools, but almost every other area of our state. If someone could please give detailed info, specifically for us military retirees on applying for the LEOSA, I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
