Yeah, I was being very lenient and optimistic with the number 4. But 37 to 0 just didn't sound believable.

And I'm sure that the only reason Charles wasn't invited to the commission was that Sylvester Turner only had Charles's number on his iPhone, and he lost that just as the commission was forming and couldn't give Charles a call.

I'd meant to post this last Wednesday when I found Charles hard at work upgrading the site. I searched and I don't think this has been posted.

This was from a public media release by the city of Houston for Mayor Turner's office announcing the 37 members appointed to the city's "Commission Against Gun Violence." Link to the press release here. He called for the formation in response to the tragedy in Santa Fe. "The diverse group includes students, parents, physicians, law enforcement officials, gun-rights advocates, gun violence victims and members of faith-based and civil rights organizations."

Even if you aren't from Houston or know Houston, I'll bet you can tell just how blue the city government is by looking through the names. See how many of those "gun-rights advocates" you think you can find. Dang, see how many you think would even be shameless supporters of the Constitution and Bill of Rights as written.

I can pretty much guarantee that if a vote was put to that group on minute one of the first meeting asking if new gun control laws should be passed immediately, the vote would be at best 33 for new gun laws and maybe 4 "not so fast."

More of of our tax dollars being absolutely wasted in the name of political agendas.
