While this article is pretty recent, this truth ("pravda" means "truth" in Russian) has been around for decades. The commies came to power in mid 1900s, promising great future and disarming the public. What came next was no shocker.
Any oppressive regime that plans on subduing its "democratic voters" first disarms the public, it is utterly logical. If the history has taught us anything, it's that Nazis and Commies weren't much different, although coming from the opposite sides of the political spectrum.
And you know what they say: "history repeats itself". And as dumb as our humankind is, I don't expect an exactly bright future.
