Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

Not exactly in that configuration.
Instead of the belt clip being molded to the holster it is screwed to it. They changed the design because the molded clip sometimes broke. I had an original & mind did. They fixed it.

I have the Gurkha & like it great. I use the tail clip also for extra stability. They are excellent kydex holsters w/ several different set ups. The New & Improved modle really is better than the original.

What about having a Sharkskin IWB holster to carry the pretty gun?
Heey Wild Bill,
I resemble that remark. I have a Shark holster from 5-Shot Leather. It is OWB & I did not buy it new though. Good shooter sack & comfortable to boot. I have 2 retention holsters & that is one. :thumbs2:

blc wrote:Newbie here! Actually, I've been reading and enjoying this wonderful board for many months now, but this picture thread is what inspired me to join up and post something.

Even though I sent in all the *stuff* to Harris County in January, they are still 'processing application', so I am not yet able to carry. I do keep the Taurus PRO PT111 in the truck (concealed). The rest of the items in the photo are either on my person during the day or in the nightstand (i.e., the SR9).

Thanks for the posts everybody - you have been an inspiration to me.
Welcome aboard blc. Is your screen name like blc2. are you a reloader???

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

Just went over there to look & saw them. I think I like the C-clips too for the same reason. Are the C's deep enough from to accomodate the thickness of a gunbelt or do you wear a standard single ply belt when IWB.???

You guys have sold me.
Thanks.

Re: Pictures Of Your Daily Carry

How do you like the different belt clips??
What do you like about the ones from the MTAC better than the stock ones that come w/ the Super-Tuck.

I am really thinking seriously about one of these but I thought I would like the clips like you have better.

BluHog wrote:Keith B & Longtooth,

Thank you both for the factual replies. I had no experience other than revolvers and M-16s prior to purchasing the SW40VE so I didn't notice the "quality" of the trigger pull. FWIW it is a LOT better than my son's Kel Tec 9 mil - the pull on that is, IMVHO, ridiculous.

A friend is "holding" a Colt Defender for me (I didn't have the dollars but he did so he bought it and is giving me "first option" on it when I can swing it) but this S&W felt pretty comfortable in my hand and I didn't want to use my .357 for the CHL class so I bought it. I've only fired a maybe a hundred rounds through it and I need a lot of work, but it will do for now.

Again, thank you for the replies and apolgies to all for the temporary thread-hijack. The people on this forum are a wonderful resource to newbies like me!
BluHog,
I shot another one today. One of the men in our church is going for class this weekend & we went to the range today. It reinforced my thoughts on it that the trigger is much better than the first ones that came out. He has had very little experience w/ a hand gun & shot a 241. They have become a viable carry gun I believe. Good job gentlemen if yall have registered yet.

I am slowly working my way through this thread while my work computer struggles to produce data from our server and I just read this message. In the previous post, a guy said he used to carry a SW40VE before he got the XD-40 in the photo. The above quote was your response.

I'd be interested to know your reason(s). I bought that S&W for carry (still haven't even had the course, however) so I'm curious.

And to ALL, I apologize for not going PM with this but I can't seem to get that function to work for me. The messages I've sent appear to have "gone" but still appear in my outbox and I've had zero responses. I'm not all that familiar with this forum software.

LT, if you care to PM the reply, I do seem to be able to receive. Thanks!

Thanks, everyone, for your indulgence of this new guy!
I did not know the Sigmas were a copy of Glock & did not know of the suit either. I have shot 2 besides reading the reviews.
Trigger was as stated above VERY gritty as well as way too long. I also found the triggers to be heavier than they should be even if they was not gritty. The 2 I shot were not reliable either. Both were owned by folks I had taught & were bought from a "friend".
The mags also are of lesser quality than I want to see in a carry gun. Both of the ones I shot had a lot of ammo through them & the lips on the mags were giving feed problems. One had the rear sight loosen up on the folks.
Smith presented them as an economical semi & I found the ones I handled to be less than I wanted to recomend for carry.
I dont have too much to say about accuracy in a personal defense gun. (Occasionally get some flack :bigmouth for that too.) PD carry guns do not need to dot an "i" at 30 yds. Range guns do & if you can only afford a PD gun it does not have to deliver one ragged hole at 30yds.
They need to deliver controlled center mass hits reliably every time the trigger is pulled, at contact to 15 ft. Trigger wt & grit devistate that.

I will close w/ this observation. Last lady I loaded for on the firing line at a CHL class had one. (Compliments of her husband who was shooting an XDm. :banghead: Men buy your wife as good a gun as you carry. Her life depends on it too.{rant off & that is another thread}) Trigger was a little light than I remember & not as long but just as gritty. It did make the 50 rds reliably..
My .02cents & some think it worth half that.
YMMV.

Who's laughing. That is good personal defense shooting at any range. If I wanted a 10 shot ragged hole at 30 yds I would buy a 6" long slide.
Good gun too BTW.
