Re: 2025 TX Legislative Session
The reason the Fair was more important to me is that unlike many private lessees of government property, they actually employ metal detectors and private security to enforce their policies.
Yet criminals somehow find a way to get their guns into the Fair grounds, leaving law abiding Texans ...

Re: 2025 TX Legislative Session
Well at least we can now can't be charged under state law for possessing an unregistered (federally) short barreled rifle or shotgun. So only the federal felony would apply.

Re: 2025 TX Legislative Session
So... no "state fair" fix. Very disappointing.
If only all Texas LTC holders would boycott the State Fair and encourage everyone they know to do so, perhaps lost revenue will persuade the fair.
I suspect all the hoopla last year didn't translate into enough legislators actually caring ...

Re: CJ Grisham is at it again
As someone who has butted heads with CJ I will be the first to admit that I admire his drive and tenacity while simultaneously questioning his motives and most often denouncing his methods.
CJ and I butted heads to the point he blamed Charles for some of my responses which I promptly called ...

Re: CJ Grisham is at it again
What department was he with long enough to achieve retired status?
Well per a Ft. Worth Star-Telegram article, his Army service as an particular category of intelligence specialist ("agent") was qualifying under LEOSA. If he obtained the credential (which he did), then I suspect he is qualified ...

Re: CJ Grisham is at it again
I'm not necessarily going to judge a guy by what some Internet reporter said about him over a decade ago. I think he got railroaded on an "obstruction" misdemeanor for open carrying a rifle, which is perfectly legal. He's a bit of a publicity hound, but many lawyers are (you know he's a lawyer now ...

Re: CJ Grisham is at it again
Are retired LEOs allowed to carry in Texas Courthouses under LEOSA and state law or not? Is it only bad if CJ does it?

Re: Brookshires grocery stores
The Brookshires 30.07 sign is close to a proper 30.07 sign, but Brookshires has amended it to state "long gun" rather than "handgun", so technically this is not proper notice.
Opinions please.

Re: Handgun license
Welcome to the forum Jacob.
Those two are not the same. Also, and I'm not 100% positive on this, but I think your eligibility will depend on the date of completion of your sentence, not just your date of sentencing.
Both dates are more than 10 years ago and even the sentence would have to be ...

Re: State Fair (and elsewhere!) Fix SB1065 Out of Committee
I hold no hope that, no matter what the Texas Legislature and Governor do, Dallas is going to allow legal firearms at the State Fair. I use the same logic for them that I use for Sprouts Farmers Market, Whole Foods and the other store chains that post 30.06 signs. They would rather go out of ...

I had an online discussion with a person that said you don't avoid a background check by using your LTC exemption when purchasing a gun by saying you His response to someone saying Quote: "When you decide to get a firearm, you get to bypass the NICS background check." To which he replied Quote ...
