East Texas State Fair handled it with LEO's and LTC's going to the side and showing a uniformed officer their credentials. Everybody else walked through the upright post-style metal detectors. Seemed to work well.
But that's just common sense.

Yes, via getting a hunter permit or other sporting defense. If I recall correctly.
But yes, as they should be able too.
Lawful permanent residents LPR (aka green card) and other resident vs. non-immigrant visa types need not even get the hunting license or invitation to firearm competition ...

The reason the Fair was more important to me is that unlike many private lessees of government property, they actually employ metal detectors and private security to enforce their policies.
Yet criminals somehow find a way to get their guns into the Fair grounds, leaving law abiding Texans ...

Well at least we can now can't be charged under state law for possessing an unregistered (federally) short barreled rifle or shotgun. So only the federal felony would apply.

So... no "state fair" fix. Very disappointing.
If only all Texas LTC holders would boycott the State Fair and encourage everyone they know to do so, perhaps lost revenue will persuade the fair.
I suspect all the hoopla last year didn't translate into enough legislators actually caring ...
