Re: Can the USPS get any worse?

Guy I trust mailed a check to me from Lewisville (next town over) on Feb. 11. Still have not received. Similar has happened before and it eventually arrived in plastic bag and damage to envelope. I mailed a drawing from Flower Mound on Saturday to a banner making outfit in California. They got it an...

Re: Juiceland in Lakeway TX: I don’t think so

OP Quote: "I don’t usually open carry but I think I’ll be making a visit soon." While their signage is not necessarily compliant, it is certainly not "illegal". That signage appears to be a convenient way of politely informing people up front of various behaviors they don't want ...

If you go looking for trouble, you can find it. Not impressed with attitude.

Re: North American mag

I have had one with 1 5/8" barrel for at least 25 years. If carried or handled very much, I can atest to the fact that you WILL drop it. As mentioned above, those safety notches are very important. A trim carpenter was showing his new one to me when I asked if he had read the manual. He replied...

Yep, same place. Moron was putting tracers into rubber bullet trap.

Re: Shooting from a moving horse

It's a cool sport, but quite spendy. They use the gunpowder to burst balloons, which keeps spectators alive. ;-)

Re: AR barrel advice

My 20" Rock River has a 1:9 twist. I've been pleased with groups of (primary load) 64 grain Winchester Power Point.

Back to back Glock croaks this week

Some bad news for the die hard Glockers. Both of my last 2 people with them had failures. Yep, rare, but it happens. First guy was doing a retired LEO qual with a Model 19. Slide locked back after first shot on the first 2 shots of a 1 shot drill. He and the guy in the other lane doing the same qual...

Beth Dutton Deer

Sorry, no photo. Because I missed! But did catch a good adrenaline dump and observed something never seen before. My primary hunting blind in Runnels County is 4 X 8 with windows on all four sides. This morning around 9:00 I noticed a nice big doe moving east on a terrace around 250 yards away. I sc...

Re: Issue with shoot through screen

Mike S - The shot out the bow window should not be more than 30 yards - very doable with 6" 357. I do keep both ear plugs and muffs in the blind. Am thinking the best solution is to cut a slit or little opening in the screen - enough to get the muzzle outside, very slowly!

Issue with shoot through screen

Having been busted several times by deer seeing even the slighest movement (or sound or smell) in my primary hunting blind, I decided to go ahead and locate some shoot-through screen for the large "archery" window on the west end. The end of the season is approaching and I have not taken a...

Re: Proper Ammunition for a Savage Model 64 in .22LR

I've found the only was to know with semi auto 22s is to test them with various types. The bulk box ammo has proven to be the most problematic. If important that the gun goes bang (almost) every time, my experience says the 100 round packs of CCI have the fewest misfires. My 2 Ruger 10/22s generally...

Re: Obtaining Permission letters from Corps of Engineers

I just yesterday received the "permission letter" from the District Commander in Ft. Worth. It lists coverage for 25 lakes in the Ft. Worth district. Coincidently, Lake Texoma is not one of them. However, Lake Texoma IS listed on the letter I received last month from the Tulsa District Com...
