I canceled my LA Times subscription shortly after 9/11, when they ran an editorial urging that we do nothing about Afghanistan for harboring Al Qaeda. Their circulation began tanking at that point, and it has been dropping ever since. They have no credibility and they are famous for releasing political bombs just before elections to try and influence outcomes. So it is certainly no surprise that they would withhold something that would likely be a bombshell against their favored candidate. They aren't really a news organization any longer; they're more of a printed propaganda arm for the hard leftist segment of the Democrat party.
