NcongruNt wrote:Hey Chas, any prospective date for an Austin class? It seems there's plenty of interest, judging from previous posts in this thread. I'm ready to get my Utah CHP as soon as you have a class available!
Let's see how many people in the Austin area REALLY want to get a Utah CFP and I'll schedule it soon, if we have enough.

I'll start a separate thread on this.

Re: Utah CFP Instructor in Houston Area

This is just a reminder that my first Utah CFP class will be this Friday evening from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm at PSC. I only have three people who sent me emails to register, so please let me know by email ASAP if you want to take this class. Charles@TexasShooting.com

Thanks,
Chas.

Re: Utah CFP Instructor in Houston Area

I have received my Utah CFP credentials and I've order the required stamp. The stamp should ship sometime this week, so I can schedule a class in the Houston area. You should go the Utah BCI website and download the application forum. Here is the information website that gives the eligibility requirements, fees, etc. and here is the actual Utah CFP Application. I'll print a few to have at the class in case people forget. You must have this form at the class, because Utah instructors have to stamp your application, instead of issuing a training certificate like Texas' TR-100. (This is a lot better way to do it!)

This is a four hour class and it does not have any range qualification. I would like to run the first class on Friday, May 23rd from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm. It probably will be at PSC, but if not it will be at a location in the Friendswood area.

The second class in the Houston area will be Saturday, May 31st from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm also at PSC or elsewhere in the Friendswood area.

The cost will be $70 and includes photos, notary signature and fingerprints.

Send an email to me at Charles@TexasShooting.com if you would to be in either class.

Re: Utah CFP Instructor in Houston Area

I'm still waiting on my credentials and they said that takes about two weeks (from 4/19/08). Then I have to get the "official" stamp made, but that should be only a matter of days.

I'll let everyone know when I get everything I need. Thanks for your interest.

I am also interested in a class as soon as they become available.
Since the Utah CFP doesn't require range work, it can be held anywhere. I wouldn't mind coming to Austin to do one, if there is enough interest. Let's face it, Austin isn't exactly "bad duty."

Utah CFP Instructor in Houston Area

I have received a number of questions about instructors for the Utah Concealed Firearms Permit in the Houston area and I know of none. I have to make a trip to Nevada in April, so I signed up to take the Utah CFP Instructor Course while I'm in the area.

I should be able to offer the course sometime in the first part of May. One very convenient aspect of the Utah license is that there is no range work, so classes can be taught at any location without having to schedule a range.
