Re: NRA Personal Protection Expo Ft Worth Sept 6-8 2019

...... If I remember a discussion here a few years back, one instance was an American Legion or VFW that was posted 51% - so it wasn't the NRA in that situation. But they did inform members so that they would not break the law. But I have never seen the NRA make an event off limits for carry. I cou...

Re: NRA Personal Protection Expo Ft Worth Sept 6-8 2019

Is it going to be 30.06/30.07 posted? Of course not, this is the NRA. This isn’t a given, The have events which are NOT gun friendly. Being that I've been to quite a few NRA events in the last 3 or 4 years, including the nationals, without encountering any that were not gun friendly could you provi...

Re: Beto visits gun show in Little Rock.

The gun seller said he would support a requirement that gun-show sellers like him get a federal firearms license. What does he mean "would support a requirement"? Does he mean that he would begin obeying the current laws if a new one were passed? If the ATF doesn't care now, why would they suddenly...

Re: CPR Bill?

Here's the list of new firearms laws set to go into effect on 9/1. I don't see that one listed. https://guides.sll.texas.gov/gun-laws/#s-lg-box-wrapper-25371859 I think it was primarily aimed at driver's licenses with LTC along for the ride so that's why you don't see it on the firearm bills list.

Vote postponed

On Tuesday evening, the San Marcos City Council discussed Resolution 2019-138R, which bans the concealed carry of handguns by License To Carry holders in rooms where open meetings of the City Council or any city board, committee or commission are held, and requires notice to be given through the pos...

I guess they didn’t learn their lesson with the Hays County government building.
They are not making the city buildings 06/07, just posting all open city meeting while in progress. That is allowed. The resolution will be considered at tomorrow's meeting. Just trying to give a heads up.

And in counterpoint, De Wese:s Tip Top Cafe is offering a 30% discount until August 3rd for LEOs and LTC holders. Yes, they say CHL in the article. I commented and the author acknowledged but it has been corr. https://www.ktsa.com/local-diner-offers-discount-to-officers-and-chl-holders-to-show-suppo...

Re: Topographical maps

I used to have a program, can't remember the name now, that did really nice topo maps. It was shareware, used what was thenTerraserver (at the free level), could create maps of just the area you wanted at various scales. I'd print onto water resistant paper. Then Microsoft brought Terraserver and th...

All I know is from the bill. https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/86R/billtext/pdf/HB01078F.pdf#navpanes=0 (a) Notwithstanding any other provision of this subchapter, the department shall waive any fee required for the issuance of an original or renewed license under this subchapter if at the time of t...

Re: Transferring a Handgun to My Adult Son

.......... puma guy, I didn't know that they were using 4473s as far back as 1968. Anyway, when I bought it from a private seller at a gun show (don't remember the year, but it was nearly 10 years ago), of course I didn't fill out a 4473. He gave me the gun, I gave him the money and that was it. So...

Re: Why is our forum's URL suffix .com instead or .org?

Yeah, way back in the dark ages the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) was pretty strict about differentiating between types but now days anybody can get anything. Many organizations will buy all the suffixes they can get and just redirect all to the main URL.

NRA Life - $750

I've seen a few people mention thinking about upgrading to life membership so I wanted to insure that everyone knew that currently it's been reduced to $750 through a recruiter. Of course, I'm putting my link down here.
