I’m a tried and true Whataburger fan.

Yesterday I ate at a Braum’s. One of the best burgers I have ever eaten.
We will certainly choose Braums or Legends over Squataburger all day any day.

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Rusk, TX

Mrs. Oldgringo was the Main Street Manager of Rusk until her retirement in 2004. She has hosted the train ride with past governors, judges and other state visitors on many occasions. That was back when the train was part of the state park system. Unlike the Cumbres and Toltec or the Durango and Silv...

Re: Off The Beaten Path - Rusk, TX

Thanks for a neat article on our town. We moved to Rusk in 1994 to build the latest prison. We kinda' liked it here so we bought our house and will probably check out here. The latest population numbers of some 5,000+ is a bit misleading in that those numbers include the residents of two (2) state p...

Re: TX: On Abbot’s desk to sign, sex jokes illegal for authority not to report on college campuses.

Yeah, that's right up there with the no smokin' age limit. That's also about as stupid as are the law/s that dictate that Texas citizens go to contiguous states to gamble, thereby leaving tax revenues in said contiguous states. Did I mention Texas' stupid liquor laws? For another example: Texarkana,...

We're watching "McLeod's Daughters" on Amazon Prime. It's an interesting, 8-9 years running, Australian TV series. Try it, you may like it?

Re: Irresponsible dog owner

I yelled at him "2 more seconds I would have shot your dog" he yells back "and I'll shoot you". Your statement is a warning that you will defend yourself against his aggressive dog with deadly force if necessary. His statement is a threat of deadly force against you personally, and sounds like a th...

Re: No place but Virginia

Virginia was once a veritably nice Southern State, {sigh}?

For that matter, Atlanta was once a nice, but somewhat large, Southern city. I'm glad I'm elderly, y'all can have, and deal with, it! Bless y'all's hearts!

Re: Metal Detectors are Wal-Mart???

My local Walmart recently did a refresh and added these gates at the entries, not sure what purpose they serve but maybe they are what is being mistaken for metal detectors? Ours did also. The gates replace the human 'Greeters' who were formally employed to stand by the doors. If you go out the ent...

Gonna try to sleep now. I spent 14 nights in the hospital last summer with Bacterial Meningitis. It's kinda' hard to get ...

I wish that had read "Hikers shoot man attacking them with machete on Appalachian Trail". :frown5:
I agree: We've been on the Appalachian Trail in Virginia. It's a neat hike but to do it unarmed is to do it blissfully ignorant of reality. Do y'all remember the movie, "Deliverance"?
