I could have sworn that earlier on in this rather long thread someone posted a story of complaints from others on the set about the way firearms were being handled.

Regardless, if you are the adult holding the firearm when a bullet comes out of the barrel, you own that bullet and are responsible for anyone killed or injured by that bullet. Blaming the person who handed you the firearm is not acceptable. EVER! Never! Ever Never! Baldwin should be criminally charged! End of story! HIS BULLET killed one and injured another. HIS BULLET! His penalty could be debated but there is no debate about the fact that a bullet he owned killed one and injured another.

I don't understand why there have not been criminal charges filed against Baldwin. At the very least it was involuntary manslaughter. Anyone else would be sitting in jail right now.

Come on. We all know the guy screwed up. He broke the number one rule of gun handling and killed a person. We all know the guy pulled the trigger, even though it shouldn't matter if he did or not. I am no lawyer but there should be some kind of charges and jail time for what he did. I don't care who he tries to blame. If any one of us did the same thing, charges would already have been filed. They want us to believe a person can point a gun at someone, shoot them and then get off by claiming they did not pull the trigger or know it was loaded? No way a regular citizen would get away with something like that.

I suspect you are correct and most likely this is what the experts will all say in court and what the FBI gun tests will show.

If so, he had that trigger back pretty far, if the mechanism in the Pietta works like my Ruger did. If you quickly pressed the trigger but let go of it before it got all the way back, even though the hammer fell, so did the transfer bar, so no BANG!

I am having a problem figuring out how any of that makes him innocent or a poor victim. He really thinks his interview makes him less culpable? Rule number one. Never point a gun at anything you don't intend to destroy. If any one of us killed someone in the same circumstances, we would have been arrested by now. Excuses like his are not going to make what he did excusable. It seems wealthy Democrats work under different laws than the rest of us.

I did not hear this story. Wow! If true, Alec is on his way to jail. Do you have a link? I can't find it anywhere.

They just did a news conference. Did not give much info on who was to be charged but they said there were 500 rounds of ammo on the set. They also mentioned that Alec Baldwin failed to check the gun before handling it. I just don't see how they avoid charging Alec Baldwin with criminal negligence at the least.

However, I'm going to (unsurprisingly) predict that - because Baldwin is a major anti-gun darling of the Left - they'll work a way to protect him from any criminal conviction and sacrifice both the weapons "master" and the Asst director who handed him the gun (both of whom do bear responsibility in varying degrees IMO). He'll still be sued civilly (as both the trigger-puller and producer) and take a beating; the investors will get hosed.

In addition, finishing that movie is going to be tricky at best.

I won't be one bit surprised if they do exactly this. Hollywood elites are reactionaries. I do have to say though that it does seem they could film shooting scenes with non firing model guns. Especially when they are firing them at each other. With todays technology it seems they could easily insert firing sounds and graphics during the editing phase. Truth be told, pointing a real gun at anyone violates the top rule of gun handling. Never point any gun, loaded or otherwise at anything you do not intend to destroy.
