I take the class tomorrow!!!!

I just got her an lcp and will see how it shoots real soon before I give it to her for daily carry.

I'm gonna see how critical defense ammo runs thru it for her self defense daily carry round.

hopefully all recall issue's are corrected!
Yep, the recall thing is long gone. If you've bought an LCP in the last year or two, the problem has been corrected.
BTW, I ran lots of Hornady Critical Defense through the one I had and it worked fine. As a matter of fact, any ammo I ran through it worked fine. The LCP is a great functioning gun. I never experienced any problems whatsoever with mine.
That is a big change from the one I bought for my son. Of course I made the mistake of being one of the first guys to get one and it malfunctioned twice on us. The first time after only twenty rounds(if memory serves). We sold it after it came back from Ruger the second time. Then we bought a Kahr P380 and learned that spending twice as much did not translate into better functioning. One trip back to Kahr and 500 (VERY EXPENSIVE) rounds later it works properly. For now....LOL.

Then I bought myself the Kahr380 and it hated the Herters ammo. The LCP just runs right through it...who knows why. :bigear: I have not heard of any problems with the LCP's released in the past year or so. guess they have the bugs worked out.

Re: LCP Recall

magicglock wrote:Well, I said it seemed to function flawlessly....until the first 30 rounds through it. I am experienced failures to feed with the new barrel they replaced on the recall with multiple types of ammo. The issues I asked them to address with the finish are also appearing again. Several places the the finish seem to be flaking off like a cheap satuday night special. The engraving of the diamond to signify that the recall had been done has caused additional finish issues. Once I had my little LCP back and started to carry in a crossbreed minituck holster, I left the gun overnight in the holster and was shocked to see significant surface rust spots on the new slide lock, around the LCP engraving and near the muzzle. I take very good care of my guns! I'm the type that cleans regularly when carrying and everytime I shoot. I even wipe my carry guns down on a daily basis. This is just not holding up to the riggors of a daily carry. So.....Sold the whole package holsters and all at the last market hall show and broke even on the money. Back to square one and using my Glock 23 or 19 for daily carry. Maybe time to spend the money for a wishlist item. (Kahr PM9, Glock 26-27, or maybe a walk to the dark side and I'll buy a Springfield EMP) I sincerely hope your experience with the LCP is better than mine.
I keep hearing more and more bad stories like this. I guess the old saying is true....you get what you pay for. I bought my son the LCP and had trouble within the first 20 rounds. It had to go back to Ruger for repair. Then it had to go back again for the recall....a month later. You would have thought they would do the whole deal at once...nope....just the minimum. Get er done quick and out the door seems to be the basic philosophy. Worry about quality some other day.

The PM9 is an excellent choice...IMHO...and from personal experience. Mine is darned dependable and fairly accurate out to 20 yards. It is small enough to pocket carry in my dress slacks and my dockers. Loose fitting jeans will work also. It cost a bit more...but well worth it IMHO.

Sorry about the off topic....rant off now.

I was disappointed there was no lockable plastic case.
I dunno. Here is a link to the Ruger websight. Mine came just as described here. Maybe they are changing it up some. The gun rug thing sounds cool. Mine also came in a cardboard box. I figured with such a cheap pistol they had to cut costs somewhere.

Are they supposed to come with two?
Not necessarily...mine came with one also and a ruger soft case. It sounds like he bought some kind of special packaging edition. The poster also mentioned a hard case came with his. Maybe it is the way Ruger plans to sell them in the future. Now on the other hand, if yours came with a hard case as the poster above mentioned, I would think it should have two magazines. Some dealers do cheesy stuff like removing extra mags so they can make a few extra bucks stealing from folks.... quite a few actually.

Not heard anything of a second recall. Where did you hear it?
Nothing about it on Ruger web sight either. Sounds like the usual "gun shop folklore" to me.

I still need to get mine to the range. But all seems well when dis/reassembling it. And I do like the improved slide stop.
BTW. For those of youwho have their's back. How did it arrive? UPS didn't just lean it against the door like they do other packages did they?
Gosh No....they make you sign for it. Ruger doesn't want us claiming we didn't get it when we did.

Nope...mine came back just fine. People get hit by cars on occasion, but that doesn't keep me from crossing the road. Send it in...you get a cool hat and a magazine in addition to an upgraded slide catch and safer pistol.

Mine arrived this morning with a gimme cap, magazine with no extension and a note explaining it all. Pretty quick on Rugers part...we mailed it on December 31. :tiphat:

So yours should be soon, 03Lightningrocks.

Also, I got a standard magazine and a slip of paper that says:
You will have no doubt noticed your complimentary magazine is missing the finger-extension floor plate. Because of a material shortage, we are unable to included the floor plate at this time. Rather than delay the return of you LCP, we have chosen to ship your pistol without the floor plate and send it when they become available. At this time, we do not expect the floor plate to e available for several weeks. Check our web site periodically for expected availability date. (http://www.ruger.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;)
Bummer about the magazine extension missing. I realize running out of parts can happen, but it seems like Ruger should know exactly how many of each part they will need since they ship out return boxes to everyone shipping a pistol back. Oh well....thanks for the date. Your right, mine should be returned any day now.

So three weeks, three days.

(Not as short a time as I was expecting, but much better than how long I was told I still had to wait after the first three weeks - "a week, maybe two.")
Do you remember the exact date you sent yours in? I am just trying to gage where i might be in the list. We mailed it in on December 31st so I figured I probably lost some time due to the holidays.

Re: LCP Recall

PArrow wrote: Any other reason to send it in?

You get a free magazine when they ship it back  . From some of the posts I am reading, it sounds like the trigger is improved somewhat. That would be an added benefit. You say you don't believe it will go off if dropped but it has happened on a few and apparently they thought it was enough of a risk to incur the high costs of a recall. I would send it back to be safe.

I sincerely apologize, 03Lightningrocks, and to the whole LCP owners, that are still waiting, I did not mean it to antagonize you in anyway.

Thank you, and good night.

I didn't think you were bragging, from your post I thought you were thinking we were starting a bashfest...I just wanted to make sure nobody thought that was going on. My apologies for the poor way of saying this.:cheers2:

Didn't you already tell us this info a few weeks ago? Nobody is attacking Ruger here, no need to come to their defense with posts about how wonderful they are. I suspect you got in before the lock... The rest of us are still waiting, patiently I might add. :cheers2:

I was so impressed by my experience. Most of us "early birds" got their pistol back within 2 or 3 days. I feel sorry for those people who have the LCP as their only carry pistol and are stuck without it for "who knows how long".

Three weeks here also....I was hoping for a speedy turn around after reading others stories. :bigear:
