Re: Air Travel Update

It's not just United Airlines. Wife and I flew AA to North Carolina in November 2018. I checked in on-line 24 hours pre-flight, no issues. When I checked my firearm in at DFW, all went smooth. No issues. Flew and luggage was no problem However: On the return flight, I could not check in on-line. Sit...

Re: HB 49 - Kill Daylight Savings Time

There may be a medical reason to not switch between DST and Standard Time. There are some studies that correlate the rate of fatal auto accidents to the 24-48 hours after the time is shifted. A +16% increase on Day 1 post time change and +12% on Day 2 post time change. That's quite a few fatal accid...

Re: My first BB gun purchase

I remember my 1st BB gun back when I was a youngster....about 7 or 8 years old. A reliable Daisy pump action my father bought for me. What fun! He instilled safety in me from day 1 just like other folks have stated. I always remember his instructions. Now, some 50 years or so later, I've again acqui...

An unintended consequence might be less "porch pirate" activity in Austin. Anybody tracking that metric?

Re: Absurdity from the Antis

:banghead: After I quit facepalming during my read of the article, 1 thought does come to mind. If you do investigations like I do, you learn very quickly that "correlation does not equal causation." Guess the bozos at CNN and whatever loons did the study slept through that part of class. When you w...

Re: Good back doctor suggestions

I don't have scoliosis, but I know that's a painful condition and treatment is tough to get. My back problems were all disc related - degeneration - grinding bone on bone. I was on painkillers 24/7 for a while. I had excellent care from Texas Back Institute in Plano, TX. My two doctors were Dr. Zieg...

Re: Interesting Non Car Buying Experience

I haven't used it myself, but I've heard that Costco can negotiate a pretty good deal if you're a Costco customer. I might give them a try when a new car is my future. My last 2 cars were bought at CarMax (used of course), the sticker is no haggle. Just go to Edmunds.com or another favorite site you...

Re: Lewisville Western Days 51% signs

no 51% at entry, no wanding, only a blue tabc sign. +1 never saw a 51% sign, no wanding Walked around, looked and shopped. Not a lot of policia there either or at least not overtly visible in the places we strolled through. Had a pretty good time. Nice outside walking around. The wife and I both ca...

Re: Lewisville Western Days 51% signs

I looked at the FAQ from the page listed for Western Days today (20-Sept-2017) and saw this: Q: What items are prohibited from being brought into the festival area? A: No outside alcoholic beverages, bicycles, skateboards, personal transport vehicles or illegal weapons are allowed. Did not see anyth...

Two of the fundamental things I learned at A&M was that Calvert and Cooke's Point are the biggest speed traps in Texas. That is, of course unless you are driving through Selma.
