Re: Active shooter reported near Naval Air Station, Texas

What’s up at NAS CC? I lived in corpus for several years and don’t ever recall that happening. There used to be motorcycle races on Friday night on that northwest entrance to the base and I don’t recall anything violent happening around the base. There have been two of these fairly recently.

Re: What scope mounts are you liking these days?

AR’s have Pic rails and should not need mounts, only rings of some sort. Do you say that because if both rings are mounted on the flat top they won't need lapping or what? Whats the reasoning that rings would be a better option than a one piece? Most AR’s have a picatinny rail on top for optics mou...

Re: What scope mounts are you liking these days?

AR’s have Pic rails and should not need mounts, only rings of some sort. I’ve used Burris and Leupold two piece quick detach as well as DNZ one piece mounts on AR’s. On my bolt actions I’ve used the Vortex and Nightforce mounts. The Nightforce were a precise fit and it was obvious machining toleranc...

Re: Oklahoma lieutenant indicted for stopping active shooter

When I was a kid all I ever wanted to be was a Police Officer. It never worked out so I never was one but if I had the chance now I’d never do it. Who wants to be in a profession where you can be imprisoned for doing your job? I see the day coming when the Police will be afraid to do anything for fe...

Re: Ethanol free

FYI the new Buc-ee's in Ennis has ethanol-free gas. Thank you for the tip! :tiphat: Bill, the Bucee's in League City and on I-45 both have ethanol free gasoline. You can also buy it from Bay Oil Company in Dickinson. Bay will also take old fuel from you. If I’ve had fuel cans sitting around for ove...

Re: My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends

Until "Dirty Harry" hit the movie theaters you could go to a pawn shop and find used 629's with a box of 44 Mag ammo with 6 rounds missing.    I love my 5” Model 29 Classic. It’s a great revolver and quite accurate, and I’ll never sell it, but I don’t think of .44 Magnum is a p...

Re: My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends

I think I'll stick to single shot cannons like the M109A6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BsVt2NCC3mM https://i.ytimg.com/vi/BsVt2NCC3mM/maxresdefault.jpg Hey, those should be Lib / Cali approved. Single shot, none if that high capacity business. :smilelol5: I need an OWB holster for that. I’d try...

Re: The Law of Self Defense - Attorney Andrew Branca

I went ahead and downloaded his book on Kindle but have only made it through the first chapter. I’ll see what I get out of it. I’ve heard Charles speak a few times on the topic and so far it’s pretty much what Charles stated from what I remember.

Fun stuff :)

Was the damage to your thumb caused by the cylinder-latch? I remember when it was a 'thing' to grind them down some.
Nope, just recoil from the left grip.

Re: My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends

That looks so nice... I was window shopping that exact same revolver this morning. I ended up being kicked out because I got drool all over the counter. As for the thumb, I feel you. The first time I shot my 500 ended up with a bleeding thumb. I've since heavily modified my grip. Which 454 do you h...

Re: My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends

LOL... But Why??? :biggrinjester: Every once in a while I ask myself that. I’m drawn to big bore revolvers. When I first got my Freedom Arms it hurt to shoot, it was worse than the 500. It was used but looked new and I know why. So I sent it off to have it Magna Ported along with an action job and ...

My 629 PC Revolver does damage from both ends

I just got this 629 Performance Center last week and took it out for the inaugural run last weekend, all I could find locally were some full power Winchester (which the box stated was for bear and deer). With those loads it "requires" shooting gloves I usually only wear them when shooting my Freedom...

If you enter your info and it does not recognize you, enter your address in ALL CAPS. Sounds stupid but I have been trying to log in since it opened and this worked today. I have to pay and I have not filed my 2019 yet so I entered my 2018 info along with my bank info and it says I will get my $ dep...
