Relocating to NY

My husband's job is sending him to NY, needless to say, I'm also going. I am more than uncomfortable with this "living" arrangement! We both carry everytime we leave the house. Inside the house, guns are loaded and placed conveniently. We can't even own guns in NY, let alone carry!...

Can resident of Texas affect legal matters Florida?

I was under the impression that legel matters were affected by the populace of that specific area. Only call and write representatives/govenors of your state, county, district, etc... Can I actually do good; living in Texas, to call and write the govenor's office regarding politics of Florida? I am ...

Re: Here's my "newbie" experience...

My husband and I went to the Austin Gun show a few weeks ago. I had been having trouble handling my XD so we decided to consider something else, after hours of shopping we decided on a Walther PPS 9mm. We went through the purchasing process and went home, looking forward to using it. Range day came ...

Ammo shortage in Austin...

My DH and I have visited Academy and Walmart. There is either a two box limit (without enough boxes) or they are totally out. We're looking for 9mm and 40cal. Is this going to change soon? Or is it a sign of the times? We can't do enough range practice because of the ammo, or lack of...and we're sti...

Re: "Photo too dark"

Funny! :smilelol5: But in all fairness, the background is a grayish color and the actual head is very dark. We asked about this at the time the photos were taken and they assured us the pics would be fine. grrr. Anyway, nice, new, very bright and clear pics will be sent certified Monday. The waiting...

"Photo too dark"

My app was kicked back because of "dark photo." He also said, "Any officer can sign the back." Apparently the fingerprinting person wasn't good enough. Wonder how long this will set me back...? :banghead:

Re: Black Friday & thinking like a newbie...Part 2

RPBrown , Thank you!!! I realize none of you all were there, and I have taken no offense ~~ Quite to the contrary: I respect and appreciate every opinion I have received. And the thinking it is provoking is invaluable. But we were careful. We were at a distance (I realize "safe" is relati...

Re: Black Friday & thinking like a newbie...Part 2

For help w/ the weight of the gun, while your watching TV, during commercials hold a can of vegetables (or similar 10-16oz can) as long as you before your arm shakes. Work on this periodically until you develop the arm strength to hold it out solid for 3-7 minutes w/o shaking. - - My wife doesn't h...

Re: 9mm not adequate...?

This is all very interesting. I'm feeling much better about my choice. I realize I need more practice, I haven't even got down "muscle memory" for the correct two hand grip - but I am practicing. I am becoming more familiar (read: less afraid) and have paid for more instruction. We are doi...

Re: Black Friday & thinking like a newbie...Part 2

Thank you, Annoyed Man , we are definately on the same page. No offense taken here and hopefully not on your end either. As I recently wrote in a PM, carrying was a very big decision for me. I'm actually still in the baby-steps stage...getting comfortable with the gun, drawing while issuing my verba...
