IIRC, North Carolina native Randy Travis, country singer, lives/lived in Tioga recently.

I have no idea how he picked Tioga as his new home.

I know people who live in Tioga and have been there several times. When their precious little boy genius was 6 years old, and enamored with the state of Florida, we drove over a creek/lake in Tioga near his house. He said to us "See this water? It goes all the way to Florida!". Chuckle/chuckle.
