Really? Does that mean that when they are told they cannot stay because the business doesn't allow firearms and the officer leaves that they are only doing so out of the kindness of their heart or to simply take the path of least resistance? On or off duty, in or out of uniform when just getting something to eat?
Yes.

What about the classes that the State doesn't let you exclude? Off duty cops, emergency volunteers, special investigators, your employees carrying in your parking lot, etc.... :rules:
My understanding is you can exclude them, police don't have to follow The Sign, is that incorrect? Isn't that what happened to the Conroe police chief?

They have to have verbal notice?
I think that is correct OlBill. There is no sign that would prevent a police officer from carrying into a Sprouts, for example, but if they receive oral notification that they are not allowed to carry their gun into the store even if they are in uniform and not in their official capacity the officer would still have to leave. They can return without their handgun just like the rest of us can, but I'm not sure how many LEOs or us would actually return unarmed.

Re: another 30.06 question

I see that ScottDLS brought up the speed limit thing. I was going to mention this as well. It is a sign, that if you do what it prohibits then you are a criminal just the same as if you CC past a 30.06 sign. Are speed limit signs unconstitutional?

BTW, I agree with you and there are many here that also agree that we should be able to carry everywhere LE does with VERY FEW exceptions. The same also applies to legislators. There really shouldn't be much of anything that applies to them that doesn't apply to us and vice versa.

The problem with there being little or no case law on these types of violations is that, as a group, CHL/LTC holders have fewer arrests or convictions of crimes than the group of law enforcers in the state of Texas. I may not have stated that completely correctly, but that's the gist of it. We don't break the law very much or at all and I'm not aware of anyone that would like to be a test case in this or any other areas. So, often times, just complaining that something is vague or confusing doesn't ever get addressed by the legislature until someone is found guilty or punished or is in some way harmed because of some unintended or incorrect interpretation of a law.

Re: another 30.06 question

Welcome to the forum.
CZp10 wrote:Personally (and this is just my own opinion) I don’t have a problem with the requirements for a concealed carry permit, nor do I have a problem with people or businesses who do not want firearms on their private property.

30.06 seems unconstitutional, and I would very much like it challenged and taken as high in the court system as necessary.
Is it just me or do these two sentences seem contradictory?

There is a decent sized list of places that have placed 30.06 and or 30.07 signs, but those numbers pale when compared to the whole number of businesses out there to choose from. There might be one or two of our favorite places that have posted one or both signs, but that's really about it. Over the years I'm sure I've adjusted my shopping or dining habits for this reason just like my wardrobe went through some adjustment when I first got my CHL 15-16 years ago. Now, I don't even think about it and can't even recall any of the restaurants that we don't go to that we used to frequent.

There was a period where we didn't go to Taco Cabana because they had 30.06 signs posted and my daughter was very happy when those signs came down. That's the only place I can think of like this that affected us at this time.

I didn't count exactly, but a search of just one largish city near me shows that there are about 60-70 signs up in Carrollton. This includes 30.06, 30.07, and 51%. Some of them are valid notices and some are not. There are probably several hundred or maybe even a thousand plus businesses in this city. I didn't look in Dallas because I don't go there very much, but I'm sure there might be similar results as far as the percentage of businesses that post these signs there.
