I found a very nice gentleman on another forum that has copies of actual High Standard shipping records and he informed per the serial # my DM-101, which is model 9194 by HS designations, was shipped July 6, 1966. He even sent me a pdf of the page from the record book that lists the account number and invoice for the shipment. I was selling guns back then and we stocked about every firearm they made. Since this gun is still in Texas I wonder... what are the odds???

Well, maybe I exagerated a bit , but it does go BANG loudly! I didn't get to the range, but I made a quick trip to the deer lease to check some cameras that weren't transmitting and took the derringer along. Fired a couple of rounds and it's snappier than I expected from a .22 WRM and is quite loud. In over cast conditions it had a very visible muzzle blast. I imagine in the dark it would be significant!

I was finally able to pick up the little High Standard DM-101 derringer and meet orionengnr who graciously held it for me after I bought it back in September. I came up to my daughter's in the DFW area for the weekend and traveled up Sunday to get it. He's is a very nice gentleman and his wife was so nice to help co-ordinate the timing that had several changes. I always wanted one of these going back to the days I was selling firearms in the mid 60's to early 70's, but just never pulled the trigger (pun intended). This one was made in 1966 and they were discontinued by High Standard in 1984. Benjamin Johnson Technologies acquired the design and upped it to .38 Special and American Derringer Company owned it by 1990 and started manufacturing the DS22 in .22WMR and the DA38 in .38 Spcl and .40 S&W. Mine came with the pictured mini pistol rug. My son-in-laws went with me, one of whom drove, and as I was talking about the pistol I happened to reach into my coat pocket and found two CCI .22 WMR hollow point rounds. I always take a .22 WMR rifle to my deer stand for turkeys and varmints and apparently left a couple of rounds in the pocket. LOL
