Previously, the 'law' did not specify. The grace period was added aministratively but now conflicts w/the new law.

I don't think the legislators 'meant' to eliminate said grace period. I think the verbage was an over-reaction on their part to some proposed laws that were never passed.

If DPS ever reads the law, that 1 year grace period will go away. :)

It used to be 6 months for a CHL100 renewal, 2 years for a CHL 100 initial, 1 yr for an application and 90 days to respond to any communication. They may have changed the time limits but they sure have not notified the instructors. Sherrie may not have understood the question, may have mispoke and you might have misinterpreted what she said.

I'd kind of like to know what the answer really is. :)

Incidentally, originally, CHL 100's did NOT have an expiration but DPS decided to institute the 2 year rule. :(

And we know they are NOT following the law about renewing licences. :)
