Re: Off The Beaten Path - Marfa, TX

Capote Falls is the highest waterfall in Texas and is located on the Brite Ranch. There is not public access to the falls unless things have changed recently. The ranch was invaded on Christmas day 1917 by Villistas and Carrancistas from Mexico in the next to last raid into the United States. This a...

Re: 10mm 1911's that can handle full power ammo

RIA 10mm or Ruger SR1911 10mm. While both need a few rounds for break in they both work very well. RIA gets the win for price and Ruger gets it for fit and finish. Sure like the RIA but the Ruger is a better firearm in all regards except price. Have not found any ammo either one does not like.

Re: .44 AutoMag on the way

Excellent AndyC, I have wanted one of these pistols for years. Now that I don't get to shoot as often as I would like I may never own one. However I will be waiting on your expert review as to operation and accuracy of this weapon. Good luck with the new toy.

Re: .45ACP is still my choice for handgun caliber

She knew that was the only way to get them both. If I had to buy both she knew I would be subject to purchasing a new gun since I bought her purses. Win/win for her and unkown to her I am still going to buy another gun.

Re: .45ACP is still my choice for handgun caliber

7 pages and the 45 ACP crowd hasn't seen the err of their ways yet??? Geez. Was in Atwoods farm and ranch store this past weekend when my wife said she wanted to look at one last item before we left. Following her to the firearms section I watched her paw thru several purses with the Browning logo ...

Good reading AndyC on comparisons. Here is another article comparing .38 Special and .357 magnum out of 2" and 4" bbls.

Re: .22 cal LR not reliable for SD, is a .380?

Not advocating the carry of this caliber at all, but I believe it would be better than a .22 or .25 for someone recoil shy. Rock Island has the .22TCM in a 1911 that is fairly easy to rack and recoil is not bad. It does make a lot of noise when fired and has a fairly good punch coming out of a 9mm c...

Re: I Want to Build A Rifle.

Aero-precision will have regular sales on uppers and lowers at a good price. Sandersarmory.com has good deals running most all the time for kits or parts you need. They also are a very good business to deal with as they ship fast and will answer any questions you may have. I have built about a dozen...

Re: new rifle selection choices

If a rifle with less recoil is your main objective with good performance @ 100 yds or longer distance the Ruger American has several to fit your wants. 7mm-08, 6.5 Creedmoor and .243 as suggested by AndyC. The first two with heavier loads are big enough for Elk hunting and all three are also availab...

Re: Retirement toys

Picked up the A-400 Xcel yesterday and it is a beautiful gun in excellent shape. Doorbell rang about 8 am this morning and an ex employee of mine had a couple of guns for sale. Bought a Ruger GP-100 .357mag with 4" bbl in excellent shape. Scope is mounted on the RPR, boresighted and ready to go. Ha...
