Re: CHL-8 Receipt Confirmation

Okay... Get this! I always ask my students to shoot me an email when they get their license, so I know what to tell new students when they ask how long it'll take to get theirs. Recently, I had a student email me saying that he got his license IN JUST 4 DAYS after submitting all his paperwork!!! Wow...

Re: Emailing CHL-8

The DPS will also accept a "photo"/.jpg of the form you wish to send in.

And, if you enable the "form auto-fill" function of your browser, you wont have to "fill out the form every time" you send something in.

Re: Pre-printing CHL-100's

I have everything pre-filled out (including my signature) except the student name, DL #, and two dates. The night before class, I just fill out the names, DL, and classroom date. Then when the classroo0m portion is about over, and I can see that the weather isn't going to keep us from the range, I f...

Re: 7 of 13 revolvers

I've had several women, as well as quite a few men qualify recently with revolvers. My last class, I had a guy shoot a 249 with a Judge (.45 Long Colt) ! ! KIinda doubt if that'd be his EDC. And, NO! There's no such thing as an unNICE Python. I shot my instructor qual. with my dad's 6" blue Pyt...

Re: Small B27 Targets approved?

I agree -- no targets other than the full-size B27, in one of the approved colors. I HAVE, however, seen some photos on the net of Texas "CHL students" proudly showing their "shortened" B27 target. Wonder if they qualified with those? And, someone, please tell me why they have th...

Renewal student ALREADY had new license BEFORE my class!

I had a small class last weekend, with three renewal students among the others. When it came time to go over the paperwork, and discuss what to send in, etc., ONE student showed me that he had ALREADY received his new license, BEFORE even taking a renewal class! Sure enough, his license showed that ...

Re: What Would You Do?

Having had my CHL for a number of years, I often find myself looking at others, TRYing to spot the CW carrier in the crowd. I have to say that, until just recently, I had never spotted one. A couple of weeks ago, I was having lunch at a Golden Chick with one of my licensed friends. We were sitting b...

Re: New guy checking in from Abilene

Hi! Former Abilenian here, having lived the first 35 years of my life there before moving to Austin. My dad took his CHL class with the guy at Abilene Indoor Shooting Range (don't remember his name). And, Mike Herd teaches out of his private property out near Tuscola(?) I can't vouch personally for ...

Re: Anybody else in the June 18-22 class?

... paper plates or typing paper make great training targets Typing paper? What's that? "rlol" The range qualification was so routine to me, that after the revolver portion, I shot the semi-auto portion strong hand only. Mommagamber, I'm sure you'll do fine. You'll be among like-mi...
