Re: Fort Worth father warned police his son might buy a gun for mass shooting

Attempt to get help for a deeply disturbed member of my family instead of allowing them to murder innocent people and be killed by police? Yes, I can see myself doing that if I couldn't find a better option for them.

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks

Here is most of an email I received from Dan Patrick today. <snip> Currently, 80% of all gun sales include a background check. Of the 20% that don't go through a background check, we believe about half are transfers between family members. Federal officials estimate that the remaining 10% of guns s...

Re: Can Beto O’Rourke really beat Ted Cruz?

Robert's history of criminal behavior means that I, personally, will not be selling any firearms to him. If he can pass a background check, then that serves as additional evidence that they are ineffective.

Re: Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick attacks NRA and Supports expanded background checks

Pretty worked up about it, isn't he? I buy a lot of tools and equipment, used, from people I don't know. If I choose to purchase them through a used equipment dealer, then that offers me some amount of protection in case the item later turns out to have been stolen at any point in its past. I pay fo...

Re: Reported: Active shooter in Odessa, TX

I am against "universal background checks". Even if they worked perfectly, which they don't, they won't prevent these acts of violence. Perpetrators will simply switch from one tool to another. If states want to do something to keep prohibited people from owning firearms, then add a box to the stat...

Re: Texas Lt Gov calls for end to private gun sales?

A loophole is a legal way to avoid a law. If a firearm is sold to a prohibited person through a private sale in Texas, both the buyer and the seller have broken the law. I believe Abbott made an incorrect statement concerning this too. https://www.apnews.com/f0c1ce26cf104ba897ac205c9d5b91a1 “Right n...

Re: What Did You Do In The Reloading Room This Week?

Matui vernier caliper came from my paternal grandpa and will always have a home here, but my eyes have an increasingly difficult time with the vernier scale. You could probably make money betting people to read the vernier. :biggrinjester: Calculators, computer-aided drafting, and now inexpensive e...

Re: Gun Safe help - and perhaps more

Good news! Based on the information shared here which I passed on, the widow was able to find the key and get into the safe. The immediate need to access the important papers has been satisfied. Thank you. I don't know yet if I'll be involved with the gun collection. I don't think that she is ready...

1. Weak people aren't strong enough to tell you up front that they can't the work you're asking of them. 2. SJW - I give them my contact information, and offer to assist them in identifying a recent parolee with a string of previous convictions in need of a halfway house provider. Good work - it sou...

Re: Gun Safe help - and perhaps more

There are Stack On safes with electronic combination locks that have a manual override key. You take the keypad off and put the key through the hole. It looks like a very long, skinny skeleton key.
I would consider cutting a piece out of the top and taking everything out that way.

Good Luck!

Re: What Did You Do In The Reloading Room This Week?

This was an Independence Day project that I'm finally posting. While it isn't a real bench, and not nearly all of the accessories and supplies, this is my initial setup for handloading in an air conditioned space. The board fits under the front of the desktop and clamps under the back of it with win...

I m looking for 0-300, 300-600-, and 600-1000 yards range. I have shot out to 600 but need an instructor for longest range. I appreciate your help. Will apply for Bayou rifles next opening. Thanks, I also have a lot of once fired brass to sell, .45, 308. BigBee While I don't have any personal exper...
