Application time limit

I was under the impression if someone applied for an LTC they had 60 days to take their class and submit their documents. I just heard someone was told 10 days. Anybody know the answer?

Thanks :tiphat:

UT Handgun Policy

One of my students from this weekend sent me this link. Look at number three of their policy. I was not aware they could do this. I thought they were to come up with a policy of where concealed carry was allowed and where it was not. I didn't think that policy could include an empty chamber. http://...

Re: How many rounds per year?

Comparing my round count to others I think I may have a problem and now see the reason my wife thinks I spend too much time at the range. I love shooting steel challenge and mostly do that with two R8 revolvers one Optic and one iron sight. Over the last three years I have really worked on that as I...

Family Violence

I have a student asking questions about a family violence charge. He was charged with Assault Family Violence Class C back in 2010. He tried to get a CHL in 2012 and was denied of course. I have searched this forum as well as DPS site and CHL 16 for something in writing to share with him about his e...

Re: I got a 30.06 sign removed!

Nicely done, however I would refrain from speaking for all license holders when you say. "Handgun License holders are safe, legal, knowledgeable, proficient, and are willing to jump into the line of fire to help others ." and "First, it has cost you the peace of mind that comes from k...

Re: HEB 30.07 signs incorrect.

I know what the law specifically states. However, I wouldn't take the risk just because the sign didn't include the verbiage in a language I cannot speak or read. Trust me, Like I said, I have no desire to open carry, much less at HEB. I also never read every word of any 30.06 or 30.07 signs. I don...

Re: HEB 30.07 signs incorrect.

I'll have to look again. I normally spot signs pretty easy. Heck I even spotted an old Spanish only sign high above and left of the door at The Executive Surf Club here in Corpus. Navy Army in Flour Bluff is 30.07 also. Not sure if they have the Spanish version since I just saw a pic.

HEB 30.07 signs incorrect.

I don't really care one way or the other since I don't plan or need to carry openly especially at HEB, however they have spent a bunch of money having signs installed and they forgot to post it in Spanish also. Every store I have seen is that way and they will have to remove the sign/ vinyl letters ...

Re: DPS Tactical Training Center

Thanks. I was hoping for an outside range. Due to my nearsightedness, I found it was hard to see the X-ring at 15-yard clearly without my prescription glasses. I think the lighting at my local indoor range also has something to do with it. If I use my prescription glasses, I can see the X-ring OK, ...

Yes, I am making a handout for my students instead of trying to explain it. Most people won't be able to follow.

New 46.035

Sucks trying to read this. LOL I'm a fairly bright guy (so I think) and it took me several attempts to get through the new layout. It is way over worded and I doubt most students will ever attempt to figure it out. I had to dummy down and read slower. :biggrinjester:

Re: New Law Book 2015-2016 online now!

I posted about the new CHL 16 yesterday. I hate how it is set up with all the repetition of when things take or took effect. Makes it hard for the average Joe to follow along. I used to provide one to all my students, I think the way this is laid out I will make a handout instead. :rules:

Re: I now regret that OC passed

All of this was predictable. It was more than predict able . It was predict ed . And it came to pass. I don't have regrets about passage, but I DO have major regrets about people who carry and don't care what damage they do to the reputations of all of us. THAT is a huge regret. Pride goeth before ...
