Here's how Protestantism works. Some people go to church together. One day they get into an argument over whether or not Adam had a naval. The church splits over the argument into two churches; the First Church of the Navalites and the First Church of the Anit-Navalites. That's how denominations are born. They are all rooted in Protestantism, which is the original form of the argument; some Catholics argued over whether or not indulgences were correct doctrine and the result was the protectors of the faith (the Catholics) and the protestors of the faith (the Protestants - known as the Lutherans after the last name of their founder, Martin Luther.) Every single Protestant church/denomination since is an offshoot of similar doctrinal arguments about this that or the other.

Still, it's an argument for state run schools and against private religious schools. The reason liberals believe in state run schools is because they can control the propaganda - I mean education - that the students receive.
