Not enough people carrying and/or willing to defend.

Crime Prevention Research Center, 2018, published data on the number of license/permit holders by state. Texas was below the national average.
https://crimeresearch.org/2018/08/new-s ... inorities/

So, being generous, 7% of the adults in El Paso might have an LTC. Of that 7&+%, maybe half would be carrying. Of that 7%, maybe 1% have had any training. LTC does not count. http://blog.krtraining.com/beyond-the-o ... nt-part-1/

Pick a number of adults you think were in the Walmart and do the math. How many adults would have to be present for 1 LTC holder, with training, to be present? Way too many.
The figures would be skewed even lower. There was a significant percentage of Mexican Nationals. Walmart at that time of day would have a lot more women ( who are more unlikely to carry.)

This looked to be a huge Walmart. It's possible the shooter just got away before an LTC holder could get to where the shots were coming from.+

There was a man named Glen Oakley that was at the El Paso mall. When the shooting started he DREW his weapon, and tried to move to safety. However he saw several abandoned children, so he moved to them and tried to get them to safety. It says that he did encounter a LEO who wanted to know WHY HE HAD A GUN but who did not shoot Glen. So your test case came out better than you thought!

Glen is being praised for his actions.

He did good. The shooting was at Walmart, not in the mall, although he didn't know that. Getting the children out safely among a panicked crowd and giving them protection was an excellent decision.

Mexico legal action, 7 citizens murdered.
“We consider this an act of terrorism against the Mexican American community and Mexican nationals in the United States,” Ebrard told reporters.
A) What about act of terrorism against all customers present on location?
B) This was not an act of terrorism against Mexico, per the shooter's note, but against all Hispanics.
C) How many Mexican nationals die every day from Mexican drug wars, drug use and other Mexican violence? But nobody's causing ruckus over that.
Theatrical much?

In the end, innocent people died, for no good reason. And the perpetrator is still alive, for no good reason.
Crime happened on this soil and the actor will be judged and punished on this soil as well, by law.

We will see many try to abuse this tragedy to push their own agenda, this is just the beginning.
At least we do something about it. How many times have American been killed by drug lords, and nobody ever gets charged. We caught the guy and it's pretty certain he will be executed.

Re: El Paso Walmart Shooting

I've got a good woman, she does have some mobility issues. I'm getting too old to break in another. I'll fight to the death to protect her, but the Run, Hide and Fight model seems pretty sane when you're with someone you love.

I don't like the odds of my 13rnd 9mm 2.5 inch barrel against an AK47.

Re: El Paso Walmart Shooting

Antifa was planning some kind of hoedown in El Paso. I'm wondering if this wasn't one of their planned activities.
