MantisX just released an updated APP with their new "Elite Marksmanship Course"
You have to complete the Basic and Advanced Marksmanship courses first. I'm downloading the new app to give it a try.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
You'd have to gauge it for yourself. I primarily use MantisX for dry fire, but it is just as amazing for live fire, because live fire is when crucial training for recoil management occurs. Lots of people begin to exhibit a flinch after 9 or 10 rounds of live fire. A coach can run a ball and dummy drill which is helpful, but MantisX does a better job evaluating live fire strings.Soccerdad1995 wrote: ↑Thu May 28, 2020 5:40 pm I'm thinking about getting this. For those who have it, do you think the live fire capability is worth the extra money?
The X2 is $99.99 and the X3 is $169.99. It appears that the only difference is being able to use the X3 for live fire.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
I've run MantisX live fire on 9mm pistols and AR-15's with no issues.
Its a valuable tool for both dry and live fire. Honestly I've gotten more out of it than a lot of instructors. MantisX detects things an instructor can not and gives instant feedback.
You can purchase magazine plate mounts for MantisX. That's what I run on my Beretta 92FS. The magazine mounts can be helpful if you are practicing your drawstroke... but make practicing mag changes not so good, because you drop the MantisX with your magazine. That said there is still a ton of value in the tool.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Advanced Marksmanship patch finally arrived. The Basic patch was shipped but somehow got lost or stolen. The package said MantisX on the outside, so I'm guessing somebody thought the package contained MantisX gear.

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Earned the Advanced Marksmanship patch over lunch. It was more dryfire to higher standards over a shorter number of required days. To complete you need 90% average on the 10 shot benchmark. Toughest was doing the 10 secondary hand only shots with an 80% shot minimum... MantisX kept picking up my safety or racking the slide, so it took several tries.
MantisX has been very helpful to me, but wonder if they will release a tougher standard?

Re: MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
While I'm waiting on the patch in the mail, working on the Advanced Marksmanship patch. Basic was great practice, but not too difficult. Standards for Advanced are noticeably higher.

MantisX Basic Marksmanship patch
Anybody earn one of these patches with their MantisX?
I've used my MantisX quite a bit and with COVID shutting down the ranges recently decided to work towards my Basic Marksmanship patch using dryfire at home.
It makes you spread the practice sessions out over several days: MantisX Features
They have an Advanced Patch out now too.
