My philosophy was, that if you were polite, or you made me laugh, chances are you weren't going to be cited.
One incident in particular occurred one day as I was headed to fleet maintenance for fuel, when I saw an on coming Chevy Blazer. The speed limit on that particular road was 30 MPH and as I turned my moving radar indicated that they were already traveling at 40 and as they got closer they kept speeding up. I locked them in at 50, and as they passed me I saw that it was two women, with the passenger turned around reaching into the back seat, not wearing a seat belt. I also saw that their inspection sticker was expired. As I made a u-turn and pulled them over, I saw that the sticker on the LP was also expired. I approached the driver's side and made contact with the driver, I listed all of the violations (speeding, no seat belt on passenger, expired registration, expired inspection) She listened to everything I said and the turned and backhanded the passenger and said "That's why you wanted me to drive your car!" :grumble :grumble :grumble "rlol"
The passenger explained that the speedometer didn't work, and that they were headed to get the inspection, and registration done during their lunch. The passenger was looking for her paperwork to take to the courthouse that was in the backseat. I got so tickled I couldn't write the tickets, so I told them that they had better have the stickers done, and that I would write them if I saw them again. :nono:

I likely would have done the same. Including telling them that I had better not see them again with the expired inspection and license.
