Re: CHL friendly theaters in Fort Worth?

The Moviehouse and Eatery in Keller is CHL friendly. I don't think they have an official 30.07 but I recall seeing a sign with a friendly request to not open carry.

Re: Address change wait time?

Got an update. DPS mailed my new license 2 days after I did the online address change. My post office felt the need to send it back to the DPS as undeliverable even though the address is correct. They will mail it back out to me. Not sure why my DL was delivered with no issues but my CHL was returne...

Re: Address change wait time?

Thanks everyone. I'll be a bit more patient. I did log in and the DPS has my new address on file so hopefully the card shows up in the next few days.

Address change wait time?

Good morning all,

I did an address change for my CHL on 11/27 and have still yet to received the new license. I did a change for my DL at the same time and got the new DL in less than a week.

Should I get concerned or is this normal for CHL updates?

Thanks!

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

Since there are getting to be so many new hams on here, I thought I would repost this info. It's a good list to get started with if you are in the DFW Metromess. Also, if you are up in the DFW area, we can always use more storm spotters. Check at this link toward the end of the year for the updated ...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

Good resource for all things radio is www.radioreference.com. It's a huge frequency database and has it's own forum and has a ham radio section.

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

One big word of advice for anyone wanting to study and receive a license, make sure you are obtaining the current question pool. If you buy direct from W5YI or ARRL, you are getting the most current one. I know W5YI destroys outdated stuff when new pools come out. I assume ARRL does also. If you buy...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

If you radio isn't programmed, probably the best frequencies/repeaters to program initially is the area Skywarn frequencies that are used for severe weather reporting. They are the main frequencies for the particular county/city so they are always being used. Dallas- 146.880(https://w5fc.org/) Irvin...

Re: Where to begin with a HAM radio?

You can also attend Ham-Com(http://www.hamcom.org) which is held at the Irving Convention Center on June 9-10. There will be booths for 2 of the major training material providers, W5YI Group, Inc which is based in Arlington by the Ballpark(http://www.w5yi.org) and the American Radio Relay League(htt...

Re: LTC Holder Pulls Firearm In Park

Thanks for all the replies. I was very confident they were wrong but just wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything on the laws or pending changes. Hard to keep track of them all.

Imagine that, the media doesn't know what they are talking about. :banghead:

Re: LTC Holder Pulls Firearm In Park

I just saw this story on WFAA's website. It states, You also can't have a gun in a public park if a school-sponsored event is going on there, because Texas law makes it clear. Guns are not allowed on school premises, at school activities, or in school buses. So is the law really written that if I'm ...

Re: Ham roll call?

I'm also a ham, N5AFD and work with the WX5FWD Fort Worth National Weather Service Skywarn radio desk team. We are ALWAYS looking for spotters within our 46 county warning area(especially in our outlying counties), whether you are part of an organized RACES/ARES organization or not. We take reports ...

The (good guy) shooter does have a LTC. I was able to confirm with a city source.

Re: Total Shooting Sports

I checked out Total Shooting Sports this morning and it was very positive. Got there about 9:30 and checked in at the counter. Very spacious retail area. Pretty good gun selection. From what I can tell, prices were reasonable. I had to get on a waiting list only because one of their bays was closed ...

Re: Total Shooting Sports

I agree that the private suites can get quite warm. Nice to have the privacy and added benefits but you definitely lose some airflow.

I believe I'll give TSS a shot this weekend and blow some of the cobwebs out of my Glock.
