Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam

Why would anyone show up to qualify with a Judge? Or a Bond Arms derringer chambered in 45/410? Because that's all they had or all they were able to borrow... not everyone has a safe full of handguns to choose from. And a surprising number of people wait until after getting the LTC to buy a gun of ...

Re: Minimum Caliber for Handgun Proficiency Exam

Heck - I know that, nor am I oblivious to the whole BATF "brace" issue on pistol ARs. I also am aware of Medley86 just posting a straw man question/comment. I was simply asking, why, pray tell, would anyone even consider showing up at the range qualification with a short barrel AR with (or without f...

Medley86 wrote:Not that I would expect it to happen often, but since there is no caliber restriction, could one use an AR pistol with a brace, and then since the atf has decided it's ok, shoulder it?
I'll bite - why would you want to? How do you plan on packing that thing around dude?

Re: Called out in church on my CC

I see terms such as Steward, Elder and various Pastoral ranks mentioned throughout this thread. In our small FUMC, we have a Pastor and a Choir Director. What size and what denominations are y'all talkin' about that has all of these middle and upper management positions runnin' the show? With all d...

Re: Called out in church on my CC

I am an Elder for our church and I know each parishioner that carries. The topic of carrying in church came up in a session meeting long ago after the General Assembly released a policy statement regarding guns in the churches (in brief, don't!). The discussion at our church session level went towar...

Re: Reloading While Shooting Question

For me it depends on the gun. With a 1911 the easy to use slide release falls right under my thumb and releasing the slide with it is both fast and reliable. With almost every other semiauto handgun I use the over the top method as the easiest and most reliable. Exactly! e.g. the 'slide release' on...

Re: Shot Shells for Skeet?

If you are shooting a regulation skeet field almost any shell will work, but if you can find #9 shot good, if #8 shot also ok, 7 or 7.5 not so much but will still work. Install the most open choke you have - cylinder, skeet, improved cylinder. But even if you only have a fixed full shotgun - you wil...

Re: Rear or mid beads?

As above, only useful the first time you shoulder the gun or the first time after stock adjustments. When buying, low ready the gun and pick a point about 20 or 30 yards away and focus on just it. Now snap the gun to your cheek and shoulder pocket in one quick move (pheasant just bust up in front of...

Re: Buying online

Not now - but the States and Feds are hard at work trying to figure out ways to charge those taxes. Some States that have income taxes have a self reporting line that asks how much 'stuff' you bought online as part of your tax calculation. Approximately 15 billion is uncollected use taxes nationally...

Re: Reciprocity in D.C.?

Just fluff press for Maddie - the shooting occurred in Virginia (already has reciprocity). DC, as already pointed out is just chock full of Federal buildings, and it, along with Maryland, have made the process of a carry permit so onerous that few regular folks will ever be able to carry a weapon. A...

Re: Big town gun show

Haggle, haggle, haggle - and don't be afraid to walk away. Gun show 'deal's are getting harder to find. By the time you drive, pay for parking sometimes, and entry fees, you have not saved anything. I find better deals on forums, picking up locally or having mailed, or online sellers that have good ...

SOLD!

[*]Purchased new Spring 2016 with approximately 150 rounds through it. A few very small marks from takedowns to clean. Functions fine just can't get used to it. Has three chokes: full, modified, improved cylinder. $550.00 Might consider possible trade - no semi-auto shotguns, no pump shotguns. [img:...

Re: El Paso Saddlery 2-6 Pick Box .38/.357

At the risk of getting the post pulled for rules violations - the pouch holds six rounds, each set of two are held close together so they are pulled as two rounds and dropped into the revolver the same way. Repeat as needed. I liked the system because speed loaders were just bulky and speed strips g...

El Paso Saddlery 2-6 Pick Box .38/.357

Having broke the revolver habit, I have an El Paso Saddlery 2-6 Pick Box for .38 or .357 in russet I found in the back of the drawer. No visible wear and looks like it did when it came from EPS. Can I get $30? I will mail it if you can't pick it up out Terrell way. Looks like this http://www.epsaddl...

Sleepwalking and firearm access

A couple years ago I started acting out in my sleep, fighting, rolled out of bed trying to escape a few times, and have stood up and moved a few steps before my wife was able to wake me. Now have a diagnosis of REM sleep behavior disorder. Got me a bed rail, moved stuff out of the way, and made all ...
