Re: Buying Ammo at Walmart

I had to see again. #1 Walmart stop saw a manager walking in. Greeted and said I'd like to buy some ammo can you help? She walked back with me and turned and said, I'll have to page a manager with the key, I'm the manager of lawn and garden. Page went out. No one arrived in 4-5 minutes. I departed. ...

Amarillo Academy ammo is wide open on its own aisle. Academy Amarillo keep 22 caliber behind the counter as there is a store policy daily purchase limit.

Re: Buying Ammo at Walmart

Often the same scenerio in Amarillo. However Hereford Walmart store always seems to have a key available. 99% of my ammo purchases are at Academy. Academy near me is always well staffed with knowledgeable personnel, the store is neat clean and well organized.

Re: Federal LEO, Texas residents, LTC

Here is the link that may help. Active Texas Peace Officers are exempt from fingerprinting and the class, pay 25$ and everything else applies and background is investigated. An honorably retired Texas Peace Officer pays $25 and is exempt from the class, plus pays $10 to be fingerprinted. Everything ...

Re: Federal LEO, Texas residents, LTC

Active and Honorably Retired qualify for LEOSA concealed carry nationwide- with a helluva lot of restrictions and territorial interpretation. Google LEOSA lots of information out there. The LTC will get you some places LEOSA won't. One website refers to multiple LTC "permission slips" to carry as a...

Re: How long does the background check last?

Knowing how easy it is to get all the information required from the background check either online, or with a phone call or two, I think you are overshooting what is actually required. All of those records are public information, short of a medical issue. A BG check shouldn't take more than a few m...

Re: How long does the background check last?

When you look at the approx 21 legislative requirements that have to be checked -civil-financial-medical etc) on Each individual application, then take into consideration any follow up time - it would be impossible for "first in first out" or determine a set day. I've been watching the board a few m...

Re: Contacting your state senator/rep?

When you call the Legislature and contact the Governor you are really griping to them-about them. The Legislature set the rules, the legislature gets the money, the legislature appropriated the amount of employees at the DPS. The Governor signed it into law. DPS was basically given a hammer and told...

Re: 2016 Application Watch - post your 2016 timelines here

Update: I've been. Waiting since January 27. I emailed the state this week and got this response today: I wanted to follow up with you regarding the LTC Application status. I submitted your information with DPS and they were going to forward it over to RSD for processing. If they haven't done so al...

Re: Still waiting

Why would you expect the background to take the same amount of time?? Look at the 20+ legislative mandates that DPS must investigate. You've got more life experiences and a lot of things to look into and follow up on that I assume are ruled out rather quickly re: your daughter. If you're LTC eligibl...
