This does not change 18 USC 930 and the prohibition on carrying in "federal facilities", which is defined in that section as a "building or portion of a building where federal employees regularly perform work".

Again, I must ask: sez who?

If it is reckless, it's reckless whether it's on a public street or a private parking lot. (Private property isn't subject to being ticket, of course, but I'm talking about the alleged "recklessness" of the act.)

Re: Salvation Army will fire officer for marrying outside...

Many churches have similar rules. The Roman Catholic church won't recognize any marriage outside the church (even a civil ceremony between two Catholics). Officers of the Salvation Army are pastors. I don't know of any evangelical congregation that would tolerate a pastor marrying outside the faith....

Re: Work got posted

I work for a large, national company that has gone through several layoffs/restructuring through the years, so there was one rumor that this was a precaution for "incidents" from any future layoffs. Yep, because if some disgruntled, laid-off, suicidal CHL holder decides to get revenge, you know he'...

Re: church carry

When I took my class about 4 1/2 months back (from a Detective), he mentioned Churches as being off limits... This is further confirmation of the general rule that one should never take legal advice from a LEO. There are exceptions, such as the peace officers who post here, but they've proven that ...

Re: What would you say? Language you would use?

Speaking forcefully doesn't have to mean using profanity. If it's not part of your vocabulary, don't say it. Did you see the movie "Signs"? Mel Gibson was a pacifist pastor who couldn't say the word if he had a mouth full of it; one of the most hilarious scenes was when he was trying to be intimidat...

Re: where to buy an SKS?

$259 would be over 50% increase over the going rate in October. I think I will be waiting for them to come back down below $200. The price will only fall in two circumstances: either the demand decreases, or the supply increases. Neither is likely to happen. Demand will remain high because of consu...

Re: Pet peeves outdoors

It sure would be a shame if a hiker, quietly taking in the sights and sounds of nature, were suddenly startled and had to dive out of the way of a speeding bicycle, and his hiking staff accidentally flew through the bike's front spokes.

It would be a darn shame if the walking staff was damaged.

Re: Open Carry.Org Targets Texas

After reading the posts, paying particular attention to several members' posts, I'm not opposed to it as long as it has no impact on my ability to carry concealed. I will continue to carry concealed (I even carry concealed on my own property--I don't want anyone to know I'm armed except my wife). I...

Re: Stopped for Wheelie

Is there a statutory definition that wheelies are "reckless driving"? Or a binding court ruling? There are thousands of video sources out there proving that just because you have the front tire off the pavement, doesn't make it dangerous or reckless. Heck, you could bring in any decent amateur obser...

Re: FBI agents stage sting to snare corrupt Illinois cops

It used to be that if you were pulled over in traffic and handed the cop your driver license with a folded $10 bill behind it, he would hand back the license and tell you to be careful. Many drivers kept a $10 bill behind their license in their wallet for just this purpose. Those days are over. It ...

Re: Pulled over ... while walking

There are certain circumstances under which you may be justified in “resisting”, but they are fairly rare and would probably need to be supported by witnesses or dash-cam recordings. § 9.31. SELF-DEFENSE. (c) The use of force to resist an arrest or search is justified: (1) if, before the actor offe...

Re: A Definitive 51% Determination Guide

I've heard this looking at the TABC license when determining if they're 51% or not. ... Edit: Never mind, should have read the Steve's reply before posting my own  So you found the trick of "SIGN=RED" or "SIGN=BLUE"? If the license says "SIGN=RED", it's 51%. It's an inconvenient way to find th...
