Re: How to Get A CHL For Non-Immigrant Aliens & Foreigners

CHL/LTC seems more of a licensing than anything else, getting instruction and knowing how to shoot may be considered weapons training. 6 or half a dozen. Both lead to the same conclusion for me (not a lawyer and should not be considered lawful advice.) I agree but just was seeing if any one who had...

Re: Background check?

If its for working for USCIS it will probably be a "Public Trust" clearance, kind of like a DoD security clearance. When I've been through (both) they never asked about guns, nor would they have any way of knowing other than my registered NFA items. If you're not a citizen and applying for a visa s...

Re: Background check?

Depends on what you mean by "background check". If you mean the NICS check when you buy a gun, then no all it has is data from the national crime information computer (NCIC) about arrests, convictions, charges pending, etc. For a Texas LTC, they run a NICS check and a fingerprint check of AFIS run ...

When a LEO runs your DL, the CHL does appear.

Thank you sir ! Just was curious if It would say "This person owns a weapon during back ground check."

Re: How to Get A CHL For Non-Immigrant Aliens & Foreigners

No issues with mine. I try to keep my hunting license valid, but I think it is not a requirement. ( Hunting license only required ?for buying firearms from an FFL/ ?getting your CHL/LTC.) I'm no longer an alien, thus not kept up to date with the info. Regarding a handgun in a cars. From Wikipedia: ...

Re: Is LTC considered "Weapons training"

I'll postulate that it has something to do with ITAR. The weapons technical information, training, etc., are all in there. As firearms instructors (NRA or our own stuff) we have to be wary of ITAR issues. Agree, not for LTC as drawn up by the state. So no, wouldn't be weapons training? Thanks No, n...

Re: Is LTC considered "Weapons training"

It is for Form I485 "Adjustment of status". I am a student here in Texas and me and my fiancee are getting married. One of the questions on the from was "Have you ever received any military, para military or weapons training"? , so I was wondering would having a LTC count as "weapons training". I ca...
