Re: What if the lockdown was all a big mistake?

At least I don't think I'm reading it wrong. I'm looking at https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/GV/htm/GV.418.htm and https://statutes.capitol.texas.gov/Docs/LG/htm/LG.352.htm . Is this an error in GC 418 or just another one of those legal-language oddities? I know it doesn't mean anything in t...

Re: Emergency Preparation Supplies Sales Tax Holiday April 25 – 27, 2020

Wonder if that applies to PPE? Nope. Specifically excludes masks and gloves...and toilet paper. ;-) There are a number of exclusions. We also need to read the fine print. All but three kinds of items have to be below a $75 price tag, and that amount includes any handling and shipping costs. There g...

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.

I honestly don't understand how Hidalgo ended up in the position she's in. And beat Ed Emmett, who I had a lot of respect for. It's the bluing of our urban areas. The same reason Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green have what seem to be permanent jobs. And why Lizzie Fletcher got elected in my district,...

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19) from China: Its going to be bad.

Now we are required to wear face masks in Houston. Maybe it should have been go on with your life, but wear a face mask in the first place back in February. Lost some ground today. Houston Police Officers Union's response to Judge Hidalgo's draconian mask order: "Now we want to be very clear, the H...

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.

Good news...more and more people are realizing that we are being lied to and manipulated. It’s time to end this charade for the 99.94% that aren’t at risk. Those in high risk categories need to take prudent precautions about their own health, those who are sick with any illness should isolate thems...

Can she delete herself from politics? I understand she was a passable bartender. As soon as things open up from the coronavirus, decent bartenders will be in demand again.

Re: Defensive Gun Use Database

For this reason, the Defensive Gun Use Database isn’t meant to be a comprehensive list of all such incidents occurring in the United States. Such a database would be nearly impossible to compile. Instead, this database features only cases that could be discovered and verified through public sources...

So far 256 public comments registered, 255 pro, one against. How do you see the breakdown? I'm not sure how ELB got the count, but I pretty easily found the one against (an anonymous comment, of course) https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=COE-2018-0008-0049 : While I realize the gun lobby and al...

"Basically, bears are out for blood," analyst Naeem Aslam of Avatrade said in a report. "The steep fall in the price is because of the lack of sufficient demand and lack of storage place given the fact that the production cut has failed to address the supply glut." https://abc13.com/business/oil-pri...

Re: Corona Virus (COVID-19)( SARS-CoV-2) from China: Its going to be bad.

Such a bargain, but nowhere to store it. All the Tanks are full. Yep. That's what's killing the price today, and the futures for right now. Oil sitting in a tanker; has to be moved; no room at the inn, and the inns with room can say, "Well, howsabout I take it off your hands for $8 a barrel?" A goo...
