Re: theoretical question

For a tiger, I'm thinking my .38 special +P silvertip might just annoy it. Remember Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom? The local game wardens from all those African countries weren't carrying .38 Webley's...More like .378 or .460 Wetherby.

Re: Gun-related television programs

I'm curious as to what gun-related television shows people on this website watch? I have a friend who says there are a couple of very interesting/entertaining shows on Outdoor channel like Shooting USA, Best Defense, etc. Anybody else with some favorite shooting/gun television programs? ;-) WHAT KI...

Re: Does this mean Im good to carry????

You can carry directly from your house to your car and visa versa, as you're able to do without a CHL. :txflag: Just hang on a few more days outside of your house and car. You may want to reconsider carrying in your car under MPA. A previous poster did that when his license was active (he didn't kn...

Re: Man Accidentally Shoots Wife

A long time ago I read in some magazine or other, that you should always have a small flashlight near any defensive handgun. This especially in your bedroom. The idea is you can shine a light on an "intruder" and potentially blind her if she is creeping around with a weapon intent on harm. Or...you ...

Re: CHL Holder Discharges Weapon in AUS Bathroom

Surveyor, In this case, I disagree. There was one detail given that makes it understandable. The person had a CHL and had properly declared the weapon for carry in his luggage. No charges filed since no crime was committed. Allowed to board the plane since no crime committed. No crime means his nam...

Re: Employment background checks & CHL

For kicks I once ran one of those commercial background checks on myself. This (ChoicePoint) was the kind that large companies have used when checking me out when I was getting a contractor/consultant position requiring access to their facilities and systems. The report contained a reference to my n...

Re: Carry at Govt Owned Venue

I may have found the answer to my own question. The American Airlines Center in Dallas is owned and operated by Center Operating Company L.P. Dallas, TX . Although, the center was partially funded by the taxpayers it is not owned by the city of Dallas. So, I guess this answers our question of how t...

Carry at Govt Owned Venue

This is a little spin off of the Hobby Center discussion, but I think it deserves its own thread. From what I read here it seems lots of gun shows (at city or county owned venues) post 30.06 notices and have a police or security officer stationed to require you to unload and zip tie guns going in. I...

Re: Cities improperly posting 30.06 signs?

There's one of those signs on my local convenience store glass doors. As I interpret it, as long as you have a CHL and are concealed(as you have to be, per law), you are ok to go in. Anybody else agree with that? I agree - that's the sign we want to see - interpret as CHL's welcome. I like those si...

Re: Car Carry for non-CHL

Well put Steve. Original poster asked if there was a requirement (for friend) to inform if carrying under MPA. As you pointed out, NO. Should he? Maybe. Must he if asked? NO. Can he (legally) lie if he is asked? Maybe. I said earlier lying wasn't an option . Well, it's always an option , but it migh...

Not necessarily. He could exercise his right to remain silent or decline to answer. Not that I am suggesting this is the right thing to do in a routine traffic stop. However, it is an option. Lying is not an option and in some cases could be a crime.

Re: How many rounds before you carry

For semi-autos, I'd have to say 100-200 rounds, mostly of what ammo I was going to carry. Revolvers...don't care/not worried. Just buy decent ammo. Now for a minor thread hijack, which I still think is true to the original question ('cause ultimately could be a semi vs. revolver issue). 10 or 11 yea...

Re: 1 year membership to NRA with Taurus pistol

Bought a Taurus Model 66 .357 4" bbl in 1988. First new handgun I ever bought, not counting the Springfield 1911 .45 that my dad bought, for me in 1986 as a gift. My experience with the .357 has been excellent. Very accurate and easy to shoot. My wife has little shooting experience, but after a few ...

Re: Prior to Having License in Hand....

Why can't DPS do the math and realize it's a bogus charge? They know better than anyone else when they mailed your license. It is not DPS's call to make. It's not? Then who makes the decision whether or not to suspend the license? Well now... actually it's the Justice Court in the license holder's ...
