Re: Question: Damp FMJ Ammo

I’ve mistakenly washed and dried ammo before and out of curiosity fired it. It worked just fine. I’d just be very careful about squib loads, as long as you’re not rapid firing I think it will be ok. Just my opinion and don’t go off what I say but if it was mine I’d use it with more caution than norm...

Re: “Jr” Suffix on CHL

I have no idea if name matching is an issue in this case. I have seen it be an issue in other cases. I prefer that all my government documents match. On our DL & LTC, my dad has Jr., I have III, and my son has IV. ;-) What issues have you seen with it? Wonder if an FFL can give me an answer. Want t...

My Sig 716 is heavy, especially with a large magazine. I have no other complaints.

Re: hog hunting with 10mm pistol: 180gr or 200gr?

I know guys that have used 22 mag to kill them, shot placement is obviously key. I just shot one last week with Speer Gold Dots and until I hit it in the right place it didn’t kill it. Buffalo Bore makes a hard cast bullet that should work well. I intended on using those in my 10mm AR but it didn’t ...

Re: 10mm 1911's that can handle full power ammo

I had a Colt Delta and sold it, it was real finicky on what ammo would feed properly and my handloads would not reliably feed. You can check out the Springfield Armory TRP in 10mm. I think that one has a fully supported chamber but I’m not positive on that.

Re: Boycott Benchmade

I do refrain from buying from certain companies due to their stances (Starbucks and Target are two) but it’s difficult to know what every company supports. I’ve never heard of Benchmade’s political leanings but it will influence future purchases from them. No, I’m not going to throw out the three Be...

Re: I found the best gun lube

I’ve tried a lot of stuff over the years, many manufacturers make their own claims about how good they are. Honestly I’m at the point where I use whatever I have and I’m not spending $14 an ounce for it. I do not recall ever having an issue with lubricants I’ve used, they’ve all worked and I clean a...

Re: Swapping pistol sights

There are different sizes depending on brand and model. The height can make it shoot high or low depending on the size in relation to the stock one. It could also shoot right or left if the rear sight is not centered.

Re: Best beginner reloading manual?

Like many others I learn best visually. I know RCBS has a video series on reloading and I’m sure others do too and their videos along with manuals were extremely helpful. It’s even more helpful if you have a friend that’s experienced with loading that can help.

Re: Residential Security Door Suggestions?

. I’m not a big fan of “out-swing” doors. To open the door, you’ll be forced to cross the threshold and risk further exposure It give BG’s a potential place to hide behind when opening the door. I don’t need to cross any threshold to open my door and I’ve got a camera on my front door so there’s no...

Re: Residential Security Door Suggestions?

Outswing is a terrible idea. When no one is home a cordless grinder with a cutoff wheel and about 2 minutes and you have the hinges cut off and you are in the house. When you’re not home they could kick in an Inswinging door in 5 seconds so what’s your point? Besides, I’ve yet to read a news story ...

Re: Residential Security Door Suggestions?

Buy front doors that open outward, this prevents them being kicked in. Also use non removal hinge pins so the pins can’t be pulled from the outside unless the door is open. Use long screws to secure the door. You can get hinge pins which have a set screw on the inside. One of the simplistic ideas i...
